Thank you...I have been going through our old archives as an update. it helps... I do have to say I am excited at the possibility that John Sr in NC could be John 3, John 2, James/Joan. The Joseph and John Jr Rgn. would fit the men in NC nicely. The John Sr is too old to be the son of Charles in Stafford. Joseph is a Powell Name...Of course, we don't knowJohn Sr's wife... If the Wm who stays in Surry and buys in Bute/Warren were the son of John/Eliz. he could be the uncle of John Jr and Joseph, or the Uncle of John Jr and father of Joseph...am I driving you nuts yet? Then we are free to assume the Wm d. 1770 is the Wm Powell Rgn son in the1744/6 will of William/E. Bridget Powell Rgn in Stafford.And... Wm in Bute/Warren would be the first cousin to John/Bell, orphan Joseph/Mary, and even Francis. All this would explain why John and Joseph and Francis hang out with the whole Durham/Shearin/ whatever bunch from Charles MD through Stafford/Surry VA to Bute/Warren NC....that Aunt Mary Rgn Durham's crowd. However, If John Sr is to be the son of John/Elizabeth...the timing is awfully tight. John/Elizabeth was born in Mar. 1685. There is 42 years between this date and the 1727 minimal dateof birth for John jr and Joseph to be of age, and for their father John SR to have had them. We have 42 years to get 2 generations !. Joseph and John Jr RGN are of age by 1748 when they witness the Thompson land transfer. So, they had to be born before 1727. Of course, John Jr does not have to belong to JohnSr. I'd feel more certain if the 42 years wasn't so tight. The John/Bell decendents assume the Jr in Surry is John/Bell. That would make him in his middle thirties when he marries Anne Bell. hmmmm. About Francis... I think he came of age between 1748 and 1755. He marries the Pegram by the time her dad gives the land in 1759. ...so sometime in that 4 years when he and John are single in the 1755 tax list, and he gets the Pegram land.. One more speculation: John/Elizabeth names as NOK in his 1728/30 will an Ann Rose and Peter Fernandie. It is demostrated that Ann, wife of James is spelled both Ross and Rose. She is John's half sister.and is named in her father John Wood's will. ( this assumes Joan XXX Regan Wood is her mother) The Peter Fernandie, I believe, is Eliabeth's father. There are three of them. The first, as Pedro Fernandis, was indentured to a James Neale in Charles Co MD. He does indeed have an Elizabeth daughter...but who knows... Peter's 1733 will mentions only his grandson... I believe thenaming of Ann Rose as NOK confirms my belief in Joan XXX Regan Wood as the mother of the last 5 of John Wood I's children. If the Charles that marries an Elizabeth and starts having kids in Stafford,is as I suspect, of the third generation of the line of James and Joan...he could have a brother John. and both could be sons of the missing Charles. This Charles/Elizabeth has a daughter Elizabeth...indeed, the exact one born in 1731, who marries William Powell....son of William/Amy Powell and thus nephew of Joseph and Richard Powell... the latter being my candidat for father of Elizabeth BridgetPowell, wife of William Rgn, son of James/Joan. Was there not a Charles Rgn who enlisted in Rev War in 1776 Charles Co MD and received his pension (when?) from Warren NC? If so this Charles would have been born by 1760, perhaps a 4th Gen Rgn from James/Joan-1? Then there is the Charles Rgn b. 1759 who enlisted in Rev War in Granville NC in 1778. He md Mary Popplin. He died in Lincoln Co NC. In 1766 Bute NC we have a Charles Rgn & Son. This Charles was likely b. by 1725-29, likely a 3rd Gen son of James-1/Joan 1777 Bute NC Charles Rgn Sr b. by 1735..likely the the Charles of 1766 b. by 1725-29 Charles Rgn b. by 1756...not likely the Charles b. 1759 md to Mary Popplin. father & son? There was at least 3 Charles Rgns in Bute/Warren NC Charles (sr) b. by 1725-29 Charles (Jr?) b. by 1756 This Charles may be the one that md Zillah Lindsey...brother of Peter Rgn who md a Lindsey Charles/Mary Popplin b. 1759 But who is the Charles b. by 1760 that enilted in Charles MD? Is it possible that John-3 (Francis-2) b. by 1705 of Surry VA who had sons Wm-4, Benj-4, and Jesse-4 could have also had a son John b. by 1727 who md Ann Bell? Is all of Johns-3 sons accounted for...only Wm, Benj, Jesse or could there be others? I still think Joseph/Mary Rgn of Bute NC could be the Joseph-4 s/o Francis-3. Could have Francis-3 have had other sons other than Joseph-4... perhaps John Sr b. by 1706? John-2 (James/Joan) /Elizabeth X Wood would have had children b. 1714-1729. It's unlikely John b. by 1706 could be a son. JW Garrett
