Please retire that surname, Beaumont, from this family. Thank you. I have done research on this Rezin Ragan/Reagan, and it is almost complete. However, I am still researching on his sons and daughters families during the Revolutionary War period (1750 to 1800) and beyond. Thanks for the e-mail, I'm about 95% sure Rebacca Reagan/Lang/Mallory is my ggg grandmother. My grandmother always said we were related to a high ranking Conf. officer whose uniform was on display in a museum which fits the Postmaster.Prior to Rebecca I would tend to rely on your prior e-mail to me about my lineage Skyler R. Donald, Excuse me for not going into all of my records right this minute. I just saw this and decided to comment before I get offline. I wonder if we are dealing with more than one Darby. Our tradition is that there was a Darby in Tennessee who was the father of my gr.gr.gr. grandfather, Daniel Reagan. In the book listing early Tennesse marriages, Daniel Reagan was married to Elizabeth Scruggs (daughter of William) on July 18, 1803. Darby was listed as having signed for them. Darby is also listed in some DAR research for Charity "Chatty" Reagan Rowe, if I am not mistaken. Daniel was the father of my gr.gr.grandfather, Rev. James Americus Reagan M.D. who, before he became a physician, started out as a Methodis circuit rider who preached his way across the mountains. He met and married the daughter of Rev. Montraville Weaver, for whom Weaverville, NC was named. All this aside, could JAR's grandfather be Darby and the same as the one in SC, or are they different people? Sorry to add to the confusion. Do you find any Ragan, John and Azula in Union County, Anna, Illinois being married in 1835 and having a family, one of whom was Josiah who served in the Civil War. The John we have never gone back and found any credible information. Sounds like you are all working hard. Carma and Harvey Ragan - the Harvey is from Josiah who was from John. Yes they are as they are a variation of the spelling of the surname Ragan... Sometimes you will find that lines may have changed a letter in their names to be different or a court clerk or census person who wasn't a great speller, might misspell a surname then it stuck. Like my Crowe line which later became Crowell... the two l's on the end had been for II or 2nd... It happens. Cheryl
