Hello cousins! This week I received some new family info I thought I'd share with you. This comes from a person who isn't a member of our group, but he has apparently done his homework on his family. His name & address is Herbert Greenwell, 1231 Hargis Rd, McEwen, TN., 37101. Herbert's lineage begins with John “John Of Morumsco” RIGGIN. We believe that John is the son of Reague RIGGIN/RIGGEN (1640-1707) & Mary London (ca 1644-1740). Here is what Herbert sent us: 1 John “John Of Morumsco” RIGGIN b. 1681, Somerset Co., MD d. 1740, Somerset Co., MD & Mary WARD b. 1 Dec 1694, Somerset County, MD m. 1706, Somerset County MD | 1.1 John RIGGIN Jr. | b. 1717 | d. 1776 | & Jeminah _?_ | | 1.1.1 Obediah RIGGIN | | b. 1743 | | 1.1.2 Sarah RIGGIN | | b. 1745 | | & _?_ McCRADY | | 1.1.3 Mary RIGGIN | | b. 1747 | | & _?_ MATTHEWS | | 1.1.4a Nathan RAGAN* | | b. 16 Aug 1749, Somerset Co., MD | | d. Hi cousins! I have found a possible lead looking for one of my great grandmother's brothers. I stumbled across a John Martin Regan that immigrated to the United States. Can't find anything else about him. His birthdate is 1867 in Ballyhaunis, County Mayo. The reason I think this is the right John is because Martin was their grandfather's name. I have no idea where he went in the US but is wondering if anyone of you might have a John Martin Regan in your family. Thanks for your help. Regards, Debbie Meno

I think our researchers are pretty certain of this lineage back to Charles' g-grandparents. The link to his 2g-grandparents (John RAGAN & Mary MORRICE) are still in question and very much disputed by some researchers. Hi, I am trying to find out more about my Reagan line. Moses L Reagan married Phoebe Ann McCoy in Johnson County, Illinois in 1875. I know they had at least two children, Bertha Ann Reagan (my Great-Grandmother) and I think there was also a Roy Reagan. Bertha was born in Thebes, Alexander County, Illinois in 1984. I would love to learn more about this family. If this sounds familiar to anybody or if there are any cousins out there, please fill me in. I would like to hear from you. Julie Singer
I suggest EVERYONE bookmark these pages and check them BEFORE sending things like this out. 9 times out of 10 these "alerts" are hoaxes. Also can I make a suggestion that we PLEASE keep the content of Ragan Roots SOLELY related to genealogy. http://urbanlegends.about.com/culture/urbanlegends/library/blhoax.htm?pid=2733&cob=home http://urbanlegends.about.com/culture/urbanlegends/gi/dynamic/offsite.htm?site=http://kumite.com/myths/myths/%23a2z Below is an excerpt regarding the hoax: F-Secure Hoax Warnings Pages NAME: Wobbler virus hoax ALIAS: California virus hoax, Lets watch TV virus hoax, Kali virus hoax In 1999 there appeared a new hoax message warning about Wobbler virus. This virus does not exist. But there's a joke program called 'Joke.Win.Aloap' that is detected by Solomon as 'Wobbling Trojan'. The hoax message looks like this: WARNING: If you receive an e-mail with a file called California, do not open the file. The file contains the WOBBLER virus. This information was announced yesterday morning from IBM; AOL states that this is a very dangerous virus, much worse than "Melissa", and that there is NO remedy for it at this time. Some very sick individual has succeeded in using the reformat function from Norton Utilities causing it to completely erase all documents on the hard drive. It has been designed to work with Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. It destroys Macintosh and IBM compatible computers. This is a new, very malicious virus and not many people know about it. Pass this warning along to EVERYONE in your address book ASAP so that this threat may be stopped. There exists another version of this hoax: Subject: FW: WARNING!!! WARNING!!! Importance: High A serious virus warning folks. The following has been confirmed by F-Secure (Datafellows): A new virus - WOBBLER will be launched in 7 to 10 days time. It will coincide with some presidential happening in Los Angeles in the USA. It will arrive on an e-mail titled "CALIFORNIA". This virus is announced to be more powerful and destructive than MELISSA and of course there is NO REMEDY as yet. If you should open anything with title then kiss all your hard drive information good bye. It will also destroy Netscape Navigator and Internet Explorer. This information can be verified by AOL, IBM and Datafellows (old F-PROT). PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY AND WARN AS MANY PEOPLE AS POSSIBLE. Have a nice day! F-Secure has never confirmed the existance of that virus. Recently there appeared a new twist of this hoax: A new virus It will arrive on e-mail titled "CALIFORNIA". IBM and AOL have announced that it is VERY powerful, more so than Melissa, there is no remedy. It will EAT all your information on the hard drive and it also destroys Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Do not open anything with this title and please pass this message on to all your contacts and anyone who uses your e-mail facility. Not many people seem to know about this yet, so propagate it as fast as possible! There exists a mixture of Wobbler and How to Give A Cat a Colonic hoaxes: Subject: New Virus I have been informed of a new virus - WOBBLER. It will arrive on e-mail titled "How to Give a Cat a Colonic." CALIFORNIA IBM and AOL have announced that it is very powerful, more so than Melissa. There is no remedy. It will eat all your information on the hard drive and also destroys Netscape Navigator and Microsoft Internet Explorer. Do not open anything with this title and please pass this message on to all your contacts and anyone who uses your e-mail facility. Not many people seem to know about this yet so propagate it as fast as possible. This information was announced yesterday morning by IBM; please share it with everyone in your address book so that the spreading of the virus may be stopped. This is a very dangerous virus and there is no remedy for it at this time. Another hoax version: VIRUS WARNING a new Virus - WOBBLER is on the loose. It will arrive on e-mail titled "How to Give a Cat a Colonic". IBM and AOL have announced that it is very powerful, more so than Melissa. This information was announced yesterday morning by IBM. Please share it with everyone in your address book so that the spreading of the virus may be stopped. This is a very dangerous Virus and there is no remedy for it at this time. Please practice cautionary measures and forward this to all your online friends A.S.A.P. There also exists a hoax message that warns about 'Lets watch TV' e-mail carrying Kali virus. This is a close variant of the original Wobbler hoax. Please ignore these messages and don't pass them on. ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

Cheryl, Thanks kiddo. Turns out that William Edward & Joseph Wesley are in our database twice (submitted by two different researchers). I did not have Joseph Milton RAGAN or Emma TINKLE at all though (do they have any children?). And I was showing Joseph Wesley's wife as Sallie in one place and Rachel Sallie in the other (which you have as Rachel T). Oh well... I now have your email (below) in both places in the database. It would be easier to search if you could give me their given names and some more info on who yoou're looking for. I just did a search for RIGAN AND TN (and Tennessee) and didn't find anything. When I searched for RIGGAN AND TN I found: Fredonia Elizabeth RIGGAN (b. 1845, Wilson Co., TN), Samuel H. RIGGAN (no dates) William RIGGAN (no dates) A search for RIGGAN AND Tennessee turned up: Samuel H. RIGGAN (no dates) Unfortunately I haven't been consistant (neither have others when submitting data) when entering the states in the different fields (TN vs Tennessee) of the database, so I need to do duplicate searches. Carl, A lot of our RAGAN/REAGAN cousins are interested in finding the link, the actual proof between John RAGAN/Mary MORRICE and their son Charles. At times there has been a lot of discussion on this point. Some researchers believe that Charles may have been the son of another Charles RAGAN and not John. Help!
