Bonnie, just received this message and sure enough I found the teddy bear. I received two letters from this source telling me about this virus Quick-L-@rootsweb.com "A virus has been passed on to my computer and my address book was affected. Since you are in my address book there is a good chance you will find it in your computer too. I followed the directions below and eradicated the virus easily. The virus is called jdbgmgr.exe, it is not detected by Norton orMcAfee anti-virus. The virus sits quietly for 14 days before damaging the system. It is sent automatically by emails or messenger whether ornot you sent emails to your contacts. Here is how to check for the virus and get rid of it. 1. Go to Start, Find or Search option 2. In the file/folder option type the name jdbgmgr.exe 3. Be sure to search your C: drive and all subfolders and any other drives you have. 4. Click Find Now/Search 5. The virus has a teddy bear icon in front of it. DO NOT OPEN IT! 6. Go to Edit (on the menu bar) choode "select all" to hightlight the file without opening it 7. Now go to File (on the menu bar) and select "Delete". It will then go to the recycle bin. 8. Go to the recycle bin and empty it and delete the file there as well. IF YOU FIND THE VIRUS, YOU MUST CONTACT ALL THE PEOPLE IN YOUR ADDRESS BOOK, SO THEY CAN ERADICATE IT IN THEIR OWN ADDRESS BOOK. To do this: 1. Open a new email message 2. Click the icon of the address book next to the "To" 3. Highlight everyname and add to "BCC" 4. Copy this message...enter subject past to email send The virus came from the Philippines...received October 19, 2002. Please do it right away. Ihave removed it following these instructions. Sorry about this."
