    1. [QUICK] Sarah, wife of Solomon Quick, Jr. (Marlboro Co., SC)
    2. larry cates
    3. This message is for anyone out there who connects to Solomon Quick, Jr. and his wife Sarah (who died in Marlboro Co., SC, c. 1851, leaving a will.) I believe that I may have determined the identity of her father, just as I did for Solomon Sr.'s wife Elizabeth a couple of years ago. I found an old message on the TURNER research list at Rootsweb regarding the will of a Moses Turner found in Washington Co., AL and which entered probate in 1825. Among the legatees in this testament were Moses Turner, Jr., Harvey Turner, Isom Turner, Sally Quick, Polly Quick, and daughters who married into the Tedder, Locklear and Driggers families. The author of this message identified this Moses Turner with the one who appeared in the 1800 census of Marlboro County, SC and who originally lived in Richmond and Robeson Counties, NC. The early census records define him as a free person of color. Since Sarah, wife of Solomon Quick, Jr. named a son Moses, I am almost certain she is the Sally Quick referred to in the will. It solves a lot of difficulties I thought might never be resolved, but first, I have to get a copy of the will from Alabama so that I can confirm the message. I do have deed records which show Moses Turner selling his land in Marlboro in early 1825. He must have died only shortly after making the move. Moses Turner, Jr., may be the Moses of Fayette Co., GA. Any clues about who Polly Quick was? Could she have been the wife of Aquilla? Or are there other candidates? Larry W. Cates
