We know a Stephen QUEEN married Sarah/Sally STEWART 1837 in Rabun County, GA. Am 99.9% sure this is the same Stephen QUEEN who was father of Elmira/Myra QUEEN who married John Harrison HUGHES and landed in Cherokee County NC. Her death certificate lists parents as Stephen QUEEN and Sally STEWART. Myra was my 2G grandmother. Dad recalled her sitting in the corner in a rocking chair, smoking a pipe. Cherokee County NC heritage book has an article on George Washington QUEEN. He came to Cherokee County from GA. His parents are given as Stephen QUEEN and Elizabeth BAKER. George had a daughter Adeline who married Hugh Marcus HUGHES. Through Dad, I am both a QUEEN descendent and a HUGHES descendent. It was quite a scandal that the niece of Myra [Adeline] married the son of John and Myra. So that would make George Washington a half-brother of Myra at the least.
