Ouch! Where in the world did I get the following info? 1840 Census in Rabun Co., GA., family 100: Henson Queen Male <60 Female <60 I don't have access to the Rabun census, if anyone does; please share with us who that family 100 is, thus how I botched this up. Thanks, Gene
Gene: I think this is my Hence (Henson). He is listed as Henson on 1840 Rabun Co GA census. Then on 1850 Rabun Co GA, it is Hence or Henci age 27 male Farmer 100 NC Nancy A. (York) 22 female TN Jerry S. 4 male Mary A. 2 female In 1840, Rabun Co GA, there is only Henson and William. then in 1850, there are Hence, Daniel, Hugh, Martha, Nicy and William. I suspect Hence died in about 1859 or 1860, as Hinsey Jonas was born in about 1859, and Nancy was alone in 1860 census. In 1860, Nancy and children appear in Cherokee NC, and in 1870, in Clay Co. NC 1860 Cherokee Co NC Nancy with children, Jerry, Mary, Harvey, Jane, and Jonas (our ancestor Hinsey Jonas Queen). There are living near: John & Catherine Lowery Queen, ages 27 and 26, with children; William Queen, 23, and Fanny Cox Queen, with children; Henson Queen, age 59, and Zilpha Queen, age 50, with children. A post sometime back listed the above Johnand William as sons of James C. Queen. Another interesting clue, my Hinsey Jonas Queen married Rachel Louisa "Lou" Martin and moved to Cobb Co. GA about 1880 to 1890 ALONG WITH Banks (perhaps Bankhead) Queen who married Mary "Mollie" Martin, our Lou's siter. Banks is said to be son of John and Catherine Queen (perhaps the John & Catherine living next door to widow Nancy in 1860 Cherokee Co). So, Hinsey Jonas and Banks Queen must be related. Could they be first cousins - that would mean my Hence (Henson) b about 1823, and John b about 1833 were brothers????? I guess we'll just keep thinking out loud and digging around..... Hi Gene and All: I went to the library today. Gene's information from 1840 Rabun Co GA is correct. The 1840 Rabun Co GA shows Household #100: Henson Queen with male age 50 to 60, and one female age 50 to 60. Also, in Rabun Co GA, 1840, Household #251. William Queen, one male less than 10, one male less than 40, one female less than 5, one female less than 10, one female less than 15, one female, less than 40. SO, WE HAVE A HENSON B ABOUT 1790 AND A HENCE BORN ABOUT 1823!! So, were Henson and William brothers, and Hence a son of one or the other???? Or, if you go to top of age possibilities, Henson could be father of William and William father of Hence.???? 1850 Rabun Co GA, Household #147: my Hence is age 27, born NC, wife Nancy A. 22, born NC, children Jerry (Jeremiah) S., 4, and Mary A.,2.
