I don't know whose Queen this is. Found at Rootsweb: http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/nc/military/indian.txt North Carolina USGenWeb Archives - Indian Removal Regiment, 1838 NORTH CAROLINA REGIMENT COMPANY F MACON COUNTY VOLUNTEERS HENRY QUEEN
Hi Philip and all, That's a troubling one. Troubling in the sense that he may be the James H. Queen who married Isabella Bryson....but I have absolutely nothing to go on other than: 1. He was in the right place at the right time and at about the right age (meaning that he was an adult of age 30). 2. My g. grandpa James H. Queen (son of Alfred) who married Rebecca Ray had the official name (say what?) of James H., but went by his middle name, Henry. I've always believed that my g.grandpa was named after his Uncle James H. Queen. No proof, of course. (Important note: There's also the belief by some that the James who married Isabella had the middle name of Houston or Huston, not Henry. The reason for this line of thought appears to be due to the fact that this James named his son, Samuel Houston.) I do want to be clear on this one. I am not suggesting that the James H. who married Isabella was this Henry of 1838. It's one of those "I wonder" things. If anyone has any factual data, clues or guesses concerning who this Henry was; then I'd love to hear the scoop. Gene Philip Minch wrote: > I don't know whose Queen this is.
