Gene's response: It is my opinion that we have not proven the absence of a connection. One sample from a reported descendant of Samuel of Maryland is a significant mis-match from the DNA of old William. However, are we certain that the sample is representative of Samuel? I'm not. More samples are needed - and there are plenty of living descendants of this Samuel - but none I've contacted will cooperate in the DNA study, thus I've stopped asking. Gene
