My bride and I are off to Scotland in September to kick a few gravestones and celebrate our 40th. If anyone needs a favor, I'll do my best, let me know Here's our tentative schedule: Friday 9/14 wander around London in a haze trying to get over jet lag. Saturday - The Goodwood Revival.(Old race cars are my other passion) Sunday drive to Edinburgh (perhaps peek at Hadrian's Wall if we get an early start) Monday & Tuesday tour Edinburgh including the Tollhouse at Leith Harbor where John McQueen was shipped out for the colonies. Wednesday visit Dunottar Castle near Aberdeen where John was held prisoner prior to his forced deportation with 167 other Covenanters. Then on to the ancestral home of the MacQueens, Strathdearn and Corrysborough, north to Inverness where John was born in Petty Parish. Next the ancient birthplace of the clan, the extreme tip of the Isle of Skye and Duntulm Castle. After exhausting all the locals who will talk genealogy with me, we're off to The Castle Sween near Glasgow, home of the MacQueens in 1200 a.d. Nothing is reserved or really scheduled after we leave Edinburgh, we may spend 2-3 weeks in the Highlands or just a few days, who knows? If time and energy permit we will take a ferry into Northern Ireland and make our way down to the Dingle Peninsula. I'll return with great photos and, hopefully, new insight into the early days of Clan MacQueen. Get your wish list together, I hope I can help. Any other suggestions for the trip would be appreciated. Don Queen
