I thought I would send a quick update about our McQueen DNA Study. We have 53 participants. I think this is great considering we started the project in April, 2006. We have had five transfers to our study from the Queen DNA Study. To date there are NO significant matches with the Queen DNA and the Macqueen, McQueen, McQuinn, McGinn, McGuinn and McQuain DNA in our study. Significant match meaning over 90% on any given number of markers. I use the 90% on our 43 marker test because anything less than that would not be genealogical important at this time. The participants matching less than 90% would have statistically shared a common ancestor greater than 20 generations ago. For our research purposes we have not proven past 10 generations in the McQueen Study. There are groups emerging from the study. They are currently defined as: The Virginia Line includes descendants of Alexander McQueen of Culpeper County, VA; Charles McQuinn of VA and Wilkes County, NC; Charles McQuinn of Baltimore County, MD and Daniel McQueen of Georgetown District, SC. The Yadkin River Basin Line includes descendants of Samuel McQueen of NC and now Johnson County, TN and John McQueen of VA and Estill County, KY. The Crawford County NY Line includes descendants of Robert McQueen of Crawford County, NY and John McQueen of Columbia County, WI. The Maryland Line includes descendants of Dugal McQueen of Baltimore County, MD. The New York Line includes descendants of Peter McQueen of Onondaga County, NY. I am presently working on a "DNA Findings" report for the study. Once I have it complete I will post a not on the list. Anyone who would like a copy can contact me privately, at that time, and I will forward them a copy. Thanks Scott
