Hello Queen list members, After reading the letter from Linda Menikos, seems anyone who just might have relatives resting in Queen Cemetery (like, ME!) should like to know just how to get to the cemetery. And, just how could we help? Donations, etc.? Where to send donations? I have a tentative plan for April to visit Blairsville to check on records there, plus re-visit Pleasant Grove Cemetery where all those Queen's belong to my line. While on that subject - Please note that the "Lizzie Queen" buried in Pleasant Grove requires a story about the name and tombstone. "Lizzie, Mother of Mose" is the tombstone inscription, right beside "James, Father of Mose." This is James C. Queen. His wife's name was Sarah ?. Note the specific identification of the individuals, as if someone wanted the complete identification of the people interred to be known. The tombstones are twentieth century work, not 19th century as they should have been if placed when the individuals died. Moses J. Queen, the individual noted on both stones, is also buried at Pleasant Grove, along with his second wife - Sarah Adeline Redden Fain Queen. Moses' first wife, Elizabeth Akins, was called "Lizzie." This name appeared on one of her children's death certificates where parents names were listed. My point- I sincerely hope that the individual who paid for, and placed the tombstones, did not mix up the names of James' wife (Sarah) and Moses' first wife Elizabeth ("Lizzie"). These stones were placed up into the twentieth century and the individuals, i.e., James and Sarah, had died probably prior to 1890. Second item: Also resting in Pleasant Grove Cemetery is a tombstone which seems to have escaped all the lists and the assigning of children to specific parents. This child's stone reads: William F. Queen, August 20, 1885-August 25, 1893. Since the 1890 census cannot help, no death or birth certificates or registration, just who is this child? Just a reminder, the Moses J. Queen above died on June 22, 1893! Does the proximity of their death dates have a significance? These are questions for which I have no answers. For anyone wishing to hazard some analysis, would love to hear from you. For anyone wishing to listen to "my" supposition, contact me and we will just guess away! Seriously, some well thought out analysis is required on all these connections. And that type of analysis, I can live with. Thanks for your time. Regards, Jerry.
