I was looking around Bill Floyd's Rutherford County Cemeteries website today, (I do it often) and found this listed in a group of small cemeteries. HOGUE FAMILY CEMETERY This cemetery is located in the Golden Valley section of Rutherford County about 3 miles west of the First Broad Baptist Church. It is situated on the northwest side of Highway # 226 about 2/10 mile off the highway, and the plot contains some 12 to 15 graves with only 2 of them marked. Hogue, Rebecca, Died 29 Aug 1830 in her 72nd year. Hogue, Stephen, died 1802 in his 45th year. I seem to recall that the Hogues were buried in the same place as Old William, since Rebecca is his daughter. --Phil Minch--
It would be wonderful to actually search the grounds and see if there is any evidence of the grave of Old William. Does anyone live within shouting distance of this cemetery and could do a bit of exploring with a camera?. I'm paying annually to maintain the grave site of Jamason Queen in Lincolnton, N.C. I'm sure we could get a fund together to maintain Old William's grave. He was afterall, the first Queen to enter the Carolinas and we are doubt all descended from him.
