Hi, How would I go about getting the estate papers for Nathan S. Queen, without traveling to Haywood County? I would appreciate any assistance anyone could provide. Apparently, his estate was settled in Haywood County, even though he died in June, 1865 in Greene County, TN on the way home from the POW camp near Chicago. I have read that in Dec, 1867 term of court, his widow petitioned for some maintenance funds from his estate. I am trying to establish proof of who his parents were. Much circumstantial evidence indicates it probably is William B. Queen and Mary Nicholson, but I have no positive proof. Nathan S. Queen was Bondsman for the marriage of Robert Henry Queen and Nancy E. Franklin. An older brother of Nancy, Henry J. Franklin was granted Letters of Administration for the estate of Nathan S. Queen, when he died while trying to get home after his POW experience. This would indicate some kind of close relationship between Robert Henry Queen and Nathan S. Queen. What might it be? As a World War II POW, I would like to find out all I can about my ggrandfather, Nathan S. Queen and would appreciate any help. Lee L.
