The most recent issue of the Bulletin of the Genealogical Society of Old Tryon County (Vo. 29, Feb. 2001, pp. 10-45) contains an article entitled "Relationships outside of Marriage: Rutherford Co., NC." Within that article are several mentions of various Queen family members: p. 11: State vs. Samuel Quinn #34. April 1793. Recognizance, Bastardy. Appeared and gave indemnified bond and released from his recognizance on paying 50s. Fine paid. Bail: Jo. Bullin, Robt. Cook [I don't know if this might be another person, or a mis-reading of Samuel QUEEN] p.23: State vs. Hensy M. Queen. #2. October 1826. Bastardy - Margaret QUEEN. [Gene - which Henson/Hensy is this, still in RCNC in 1826?] p. 24: State vs. Meredith Queen and Pegga Queen (sic). #39. January 1827. Adultery. [Anyone want to speculate on which Meredith and which Peggy/Margaret Queen these are? I think the Meredith must be Meredith, son of William Lewis Queen. Not sure about Pegga; Meredith did have a twin sister named Margaret. He also had a neice, Margaret Jean QUeen, daughter of his brother William Lewis, Jr. Any ideas?] p. 28: State vs. Daniel Hicks. #4. October 1831. Bastardy - Cath. QUEEN. Appeared and gave bond to indemnify the county and was discharged on payment of costs. p. 29: State vs. James Queen. #4. Oct. 1833. Bastardy - Phereby Taylor. appeared and gave bond to indemnify the county and was discharged on payment of costs. p. 39-40: State vs. Isaac Queen. #5 February 1850. Bastardy. Plaintiff's receipt filed by defendant in discharge of the usual allowance. Chas. QUEEN acknowledged judgment for the cost. [here I believe that Isaac is the 21-yo son of Charles QUeen, and that Charles is Meredith QUeen's son (and WL Queen, Sr.'s grandson)] Reiley Kidd Seattle
