Wonder if records, prior to 1841, currently being stored in an old church in Brooklyn, New York would be of any help to the current researchers on this list?? Am referring to those of my g-g grandfather, William H. QUEEN. Some of my family members who are now deceased thought he was of the Gnatty Creek Queens but at this time I have no proof of that. Since I live in East Texas and far away from Brooklyn NY, it is impossible for me to physically check out those records. The church still exists and I have attempted contact by phone but each time had to leave a number and thus far have not received a response. If someone out there on the list would have access to said records it just might help all of us out in the DNA project. I have proved my descending back to this William H. and am in process of getting a direct male descendent to provide a DNA test. What ya'll think? As a side note: Census records for 1840 do show a Wm H. in Brooklyn but then that is such a common name, and since the Census form showed only head of household back then, how can I be sure he is my Wm H?
