I would like to publicly thank Missi, whose name I have been repeatedly been misspelling, for her jaunt to Rome, GA a few months back. Her efforts helped to identify the grave of my 3rd Great Grandfather, John W. QUEEN, Jr., C.S.A., 1816-1863. Thanks to Melessia, I'm 99% certain it is his. There's also a Mean Old Coot on this list who has, from time to time, infused a challenging spirit which I have found to be both enlightening and amusing. Several others of you have contributed enormously to my meager efforts in compiling my lateral line data, and particularly my collateral lines. Many leaves on the tree have been falling into place. Alas! So many ancestors, so little time! And THANK YOU MANDY for coordinating! I am often humbled (sometimes intimidated) by the massive amount of effort and research so many of you have done. I only hope that I have, and can continue to, contribute to all here. Over the past year, I have "met" quite a number of very kind individuals through a variety of genealogical forums. Some are "new" cousins, and interestingly enough, some of the "old" ones whom I knew as a youngster have contacted me after finding some of my postings in Genealogy Cyberville. What a kick! Its been awhile, actually I just got back on the Queen list after some problems - family illness/death, money, and computer - Anyway hopefully I've got my act back together now. My Queen research as I know it is William McKinley Queen (1897-1968), his parents, "Banks" Queen (?) and Mary "Mollie" Martin (uh, I've got it written down somewhere)...their parents were John Queen and Katherine Lowery married in Union Co, GA in 1850, and James and Permelia(?) Martin. The family can also be found at times in Cherokee/Clay County, NC. This is my Mom's Mom's family. Don't know much else. I also made a little website which I dedicated to my Grannie, Carrie Mae Queen Mason, who passed away this past December. Its not much in the way of research or historical value...mostly I just made it as a diversion and for my family who all misses our Mother and Grannie. The address is hometown.aol.com/missipryss/family.html if you'd like to look at it. By the way, my computer had crashed so I lost everyones email address that I used to correspond with so if you ones will write to me I will write back. Or anyone who'd just care to write, too.
