Regarding recent posts of Gayle and Mandy, the following is provided for any possible value: Reference (Gayle): John Hall bought land for $9.15 on 12-25-1832 being the land on which John Jones and Josiah Jones "now" live, adjoining land of Robert Hall and land on which Hugh Queen now lives. Reference (Mandy): J. W. Quinn, Macon Co., NC 1840 census: Aged 30<40 plus 1 male 16<20 Comments: 1830 Macon County census pg 26: James Quinn, male 20<30 and female 15<20. Page 2: John Hall age 40<50 with others in HH Page 16: James Queen age 20<30 (b. ca 1808, son of Alfred?) female 15<20 (Isabella?) next name: Josiah Jones age 40<50 with others in HH Page 18: William Morgan age 50<60 2 males 20<30 2 males 15<20 others Page 20: Mary Queen age 30<40 (head of household) male <5 male 5<10 Page 25: William Morgan age 30<40 female 20<30 female 5<10 Page 32: John Hall age 20<30 w/female 20<30 next name: William Queen age 20<30 female 20<30 female 5<10 ...Assume that this is William Queen, son of Henson Queen of ca 1742 and Sarah Hampton Queen? Also assume that this is father of Samuel Patton Queen who was born on 12-16-1833 in MACON Co.? Further, assume that the oldest female is Mary Ann Patton, wife of William.) Please note that there are differing assumptions concerning the ancestor of this William Queen. Macon Co. Marriages: Maxwell Queen and Sela Rose 12-20-1832 by H. G. Woodfin, Deputy Clerk Wm. B. Morgan and Mary Queen 2-3-1833 by John Hall, Clerk Jessey Sherrill and Margaret Queen 10-26-1833 John Turner and Mary Queen 11-8-1834 Discussion: Who is the John Hall who bought the land per Gayle's reference? The John Hall of page 2 or the one of page 32 with a William Queen living nearby? If we consider the land on which "Josiah Jones" now lives, then he lives next door to James Queen, son of Alfred of 1810? Is the John Hall the man who was Clerk at the time of marriage of Wm B Morgan to Mary Queen in 1833? Clerks have a way of getting land sold by sheriffs. And...just for kicks...the Mary Queen age 30<40 (= born ca 1790-1800) of the 1830 census, was she the Mary Queen who married Wm B. Morgan in 1833 or John Turner in 1834, or neither? (With two young children and no husband in her household in 1830, I'm going to assume that she had been married and her Queen husband is now deceased.) Was she the Mary Ann State (Slate) who married Timothey in Haywood in 1816? Was she the Polly Queen who was age 63 and back in Haywood in 1860 with John State (Slate) age 97 also in the household? Comments anyone....especially challenges to the William Queen assumptions listed above. Gene
