    1. Josiah Jones and More
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Thanks for stirring the old research juices! Tinkering again with the Josiah Jones (b. ca 1780-90) and living beside James Queen in 1830 Macon. My tentative conclusion, perhaps inaccurate, is that the Josiah Jones who married Catherine Queen on 2-13-1806 in Rutherford Co. was the Josiah Jones of the 1830 Macon census and not the Josiah of the 1830 and 1840 Rutherford census. Reason: The Josiah of 1830/40 Rutherford would have been 6-16 yr of age at time of marriage; the Josiah of 1830 Macon would have been 16-26 yr of age. Concerns: Where were Josiah and Catherine in 1810 and 1820 and why were they (if true) living near James H. and Isabella Queen in 1830 Macon? Has anyone on this list researched the Josiah Jones family? Any listing of children and ages? Riley's info and/or that from others suggests possibility/probability that Joseph Queen married Ursula(Usley) Jones, dau of John Jones, and that Joseph Queen was in Macon County in early1830's and lived next door to Samuel Queen of ca 1776-1780 at the time of the 1830 Haywood census. Macon County was probably a stone's throw away from where Samuel and Joseph lived in 1830...or the census taker crossed the county line (Macon was established in 1828, if I recall correctly). The 1821 Rutherford Co. NC deed to Joseph Queen is very interesting, if this is the same Joseph who married Ursula Jones. (There was a Joseph Queen in Haywood in early 1820. Was it the same Joseph if he was living with his father, William, in Rutherford in 1810 and buying land in Rutherford in 1821??) Also intriguing is the info from Riley that Joshua Hall and Jane Queen were in Webster, NC area in 1829. This, potentially, puts the following folk in the Cullowhee/Webster area in 1829/1835: Samuel Queen (of 1776-1780), Joseph Queen, Jane Queen Hall, Catherine Queen Jones, Hugh Queen and William Lewis Queen, Sr.? If the Hugh Queen came from Rutherford, along with most of the others, I'm guessing that it is the Hugh born ca 1784-1794. Was this Hugh (Houston?) residing in Macon in 1832/33 and near James and Isabella Queen the source of the name Houston for Samuel Houston Queen born in 1838, son of James and Isabella? If so, why? What if, old Hugh of 1810 Rutherford and born prior to 1765 had the following sons: Samuel Queen (b. ca 1776-1780) probable father of James H of 1808 and Alfred of 1810 Hugh Queen (b. ca 1784-1794) Hugh Queen, Sr family of 1810 Rutherford still at home: Male b. prior to 1765 Female b. prior to 1765 Male b. 1784-1794 Female b. 1784-1794 (2 of 'em) Female b. 1794-1800) (3 of 'em) Male b. 1800-1810 (2 of 'em) Hugh Queen (Jr) family of 1810 Rutherford: Male b. 1784-1794 (guess is that he was born near 1784; wife & children ages) Female b. 1765-1784) Male b. 1800-1810 Female b. 1800-1810 Has anyone researched the Hugh Queen, Sr family of 1810 Rutherford? Any earlier listing anywhere on a Hugh Queen born prior to 1765? Will ponder some other postings later. Old info from Rutherford (have full census details on these if anyone needs them).
