Hi, I spent some time at the library today. I did not have access to 1850 census records, the book was at the binders. Here is what I found on the Giles Landon Carter family or possible relations. 1820 McMinn Co., TN John Queen (20-30) 1 female (15-20) 1810 Stokes Co., NC- Landon Carter on pgs. 527 & 595-could not access films. 1820 Rutherford Co., NC-Giles Carter pg. 75-could not access this film 1830-not available 1840 McMinn Co., TN pg. 89 Jiles Carter (60-70) 1 female (40-50) 1 female (15-20) other neighbors are in this order John Gipson, John Miller, Judy Miller, Jiles Carter, Sarah Blevins & Wm. Shelton. So no help here as far as families they may have traveled with. 1840 Carter Co., TN Carters Listed Charles, pg 112 Henderson pg.81 James pg 81 Joseph p 107 Will pg 117 and a Queener, G.W. pg 125 Now, I also found the following records, which may be how the Carters got to Tenn. Revolutionary War Records Landon Carter, Elizabeth, W900, NC line, sol was b. 1/29/1760, sol lived in Washington City at enl, sol m Elizabeth Mackin/Maulin/Meulin on 2/26/1784 & she was b. 7/9/1765 & sol d 6/5/1800, wid appl 12/8/1838 CARTER CO., TN a res of Elizabethtown, TN, wid was dec'd in 1854, children shown were: Alfred M. aged 54 in 1838 & m 11/15/1810 (wife no named), Sarah, Elizabeth or Eliza M. who m. a man named Paxton, George W., Mary & William B. who in 1838 was a member of US House of Reps from TN. Landon Carter, S41471, Va line, app 12/1/1827 Stokes Co., NC, aged 70 with children at home, towit; Margaret aged 33, Lucy aged 30 who with unnamed husband lived wit sol & sols daughter Elizabeth. >From the DAR Patriot Index Landon Carter, b. 1/29/1750 Va., d. 6/5/1800 TN m.
