    3. "...not found on the 1810 or 1820 census..." Historically speaking, what was happening with our country during this time? How old was he then? Was there a predominant "industry" besides farming, i.e. mining, during this period that might have been COMMON to these specific areas in SC, GA & TN? Troublemaking bystander, ;) -----Original Message----- From: O Eugene Queen [mailto:EQueen@lexcominc.net] Sent: Sunday, January 21, 2001 5:31 PM To: QUEEN-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [QUEEN] Thomas Queen (b. ca 1753 Anson Co., NC) Hi all, Is anyone on this list researching the above subject? Would about a dozen of the group wish to do so? Or, would you follow the data/questions to see why the interest and how you may help? Much of the data listed here is courtesy of Reily Kidd's web page. The remainder has been provided by folks working on the TN Project. The question is the movements of Thomas and why he went to Bedford County, TN. Reiley's data shows movement (which interest us) as: NC > Union Co., SC > Elbert Co., GA > Bedford Co., TN > Morgan Co, AL. We suppose that Thomas is the one listed on pg 93 of the 1790 Union Co. SC census and of the 1800 Union Co. SC census. He's not been found on the 1810 SC census, but he is possibly picked up in Laurens Co., SC in 1826-27 in an action where it is reported that Thoms. Quin moved to Georgia. He's not found on the 1810 or 1820 census of Elbert Co., GA (we may have overlooked it), but the movements thus far are in line with movements shown by Reiley. We next probably pick him up in 1830 Morgan Co. AL. as Thomas Quean and in 1840 Morgan Co. as Thomas Quinn. But.....we've missed any trace of him in Bedford Co., TN....or have we? If Thomas left SC for GA in 1826-27 or earlier, then went to Bedford, TN for a short time before arriving in AL in 1830, why did he go to Bedford? Who was in Bedford? Well, there was a James Quinn there as of the 1820 Bedford census. This James was 45+ yr of age with a family. We've not found James there on the 1830 census. So, did Thomas visit him in the late 1820's, then Thomas take off for AL to arrive there by 1830? Also, did James go with him? And, perhaps most important of all, if any of this rambling is true, what was the relationship of Thomas and James? Was this James the son of Thomas, or was this James...born before1775....another Queen of ours, or simply an unrelated Quinn as stated? Any additional data concerning this Thomas Queen would be greatly appreciated as would and info regarding the James Quinn of 1820 Bedford, TN. Corrections are always welcomed. Thanks, Gene ______________________________
