    1. William Queen and wife Margaret?
    2. My husband and I have been researching the William and William Lewis Queen lines. Before we make the trip to North Carolina for more research would like to have some input if any other researcher has followed up on the property deeds in Anson County, NC of William Stone and William Queen and a possible relationship. Our thinking on the deeds. In 1754 William Stone land was surveyed and (first name not readable) Queen was a chain bearer. In most cases the chainbears were sons or other relatives. In 1755 William Stone sells to William Queen 100 acres, "on which he now lives." This to us implies some sort of relationship between William Stone and William Queen and his wife Margaret as he was already living on the property. This 100 acres is also sold to William Queen for 6 pounds, a small amount even for that date. In February 1768 William Queen sells this same 100 acres with wife Margaret "relinquishing her rights." The fact that Margaret relinquished her rights usually would have meant that she had a dower interest in the property given her by a relative. Now, we are not making this leap but just throwing out to see if anyone has already been down this road or if any more thoughts or ideas. The names of Stone, Queen, Smith, Downs and Vines keep turning up as sellers, buyers and witnesses for each other. In 1748, the people of the Pee Dee area petitioned for a new county, Anson, be formed since Elizabeth was over 100 miles away. Anson County was formed out of Bladen County in 1750.
