Martha Jane Barber was born in Indiana. Her father was a Doctor--they moved to MO/Ark Territory. Elias, we know, was born in NC in 1821; lived in TN and ARK then TX. 1900WilliamsonCounty,Texas Census: Married about 1848 in Ark. No of children=there were 13; but 2 of them were not Martha's. By this time, Martha Jane had lost : ALL of her daughters were dead; one baby in 1853;and in April 1900 her oldest son William L. Queen and part of his family had drowned in a flood in West Texas and were buried there. [I believe that family had just spent part of the Spring in Williamson County picking cotton.]When the census taker turned up in June they were still mourning. [He probably never went in the house.] Elias Butler Queen, Sr. born 2/15/1821 NC, died 10/16/1906. [I believe that is also the reason why Robert Lee, their son, was in Williamson County for the census count and not in his home in Channing, Hartley County Tx.] Martha Jane Barber born 2/27/1832 in Indiana died 3/22/1908. Both buried at Queen Hill in Williamson Co. TX [There is an indication that Lee went toTom Green County to see to the burial of his brother's drowned family and the arrangements for the surviving children, who elected to remain in Odessa TX with the oldest sister. I believe Lee's father, Elias B., sorted out his estate at this time [prior to his death in 1906], since some of the older sons and Lee were not included in the will which was written later. Apparently Elias settled money on them [Statement made by cousin Archie Queen about 1978]. [Elias Butler Queen -- I have just sent you the children and grandchildren list]. Katy
