    1. Re: [QUEEN] Fwd: Charles Queen
    2. I agree there is no proof that the name Queen came from a change as a result of serving in the British military.? However, knowing my family's history and characteristics, I do not believe they were British. My Grandfather told my mother that the family name was originally McQueen.?This information was passed down through the generations of Queen's in our family. They were part of a group called the Maryland League who arrived in Maryland in the 1600's They were escaping religious persecution as they were Catholic.? At the time, Maryland was a State that allowed Catholicism. When Maryland became Protestant, they left and migrated?to an area in Kentucky now known as the Holy Lands?of KY.? Here is some information about the research done by Henry Queen's sister. Henry Queen of NY wrote the Charles Jerningham Queen book and donated it to the Library of Congress. I met Henry through letters long before the internet was available. We corresponded and talked on the phone.?He sent me part of his book. His sister actually did most of the research visiting England to seek records. He was the one who told me there was no surname Queen that originated in England ?Sue ? -----Original Message----- From: Skip Queen <papanohair@mac.com> To: QUEEN-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, 6 Jul 2007 5:24 am Subject: [QUEEN] Fwd: Charles Queen Looks like the info out of the History of the Queen Family. Unfortunately I (for one) do not believe it. If all this happened then there should be some piece of paper somewhere with some information on it. It is my understanding not one piece of information in the book has a paper trail agreeing with any claim, in fact there are a lot of contradictions. Surely between Magistrate, British Officer, shipping manifests, something should be there. ========= Begin forwarded message: > ________________________________________________________________________ AOL now offers free email to everyone. 3. This sounds like it just might be the answer. Is there any info linking Charles to this group? I want to study this Maryland League more. Thanks for the info - you have given me renewed hope after all these years. Going to resubmit names and dates for my line from me backwards to Charles. ========== Begin forwarded message: > From: msbaldwin43@aol.com > Date: July 6, 2007 8:21:28 AM EDT > To: QUEEN-L@rootsweb.com > Subject: Re: [QUEEN] Fwd: Charles Queen > > I agree there is no proof that the name Queen came from a change as > a result of serving in the British military.?
