    3. Rolla, I noticed on your website that you have Old William Queen born 1716 and death date as 5 Oct 1793. What is the source of the death date? I thought he died early in 1801 in Rutherford County, N.C. This is from my notes regarding old William: 1. Rutherford County, North Carolina Deed Bk 22-23: 407. 11 April 1794, William Queen, Jr., attorney for William Queen, Sr., to Jacob Prilhard, tract on Wards Creek granted to Robert Collinwood. (Wouldn't they have said William Queen, Sr., deceased?) 2. Also, Wooley, James E. and Vivian, 25. (There is no date for this, but it was proved in court in 1801.) Rutherford County, North Carolina Will Bk B, 123: Bill of Sale. I, William Queen, Sr. sold to Stephan Hogue ( William's son-in-law) 1 mare now in his possession, likewise, 6 plates, 3 dishes, 3 basins. Witnessed: David Forbes, William Hogue. Signed: William (x) Queen 3. William Queen household, 1800 Federal census, Rutherford County, North Carolina: 00001-00001 (1 male over 45, 1 female over 45). 4. Philbeck, William Queen 1716-1801, 142. Rutherford County, North Carolina Court Minutes, April 1801. Letters of administration granted to Stephen Hogue on the estate of William Queen, Sen., decd. William Carson security on bond. (I thought William Queen died between the census enumeration in summer of 1800 and April 1801.) Any comments? Thanks, Drew

    3. Drew, The information on the website for the DNA study reflects the information provided to me by and large by the DNA donor/participant - therefore it reflects their knowledge and understanding and research back to their brick wall. Since I do not claim descent from the Old William line, I will defer to the many folks on the list that do and have better information. As I have tried to explain, the website should reflect for each DNA donor, the oldest confirmed ancestor that the participant can trace back to through research and documents, not who they speculate they should trace back to. The website information should also reflect the earliest confirmed appearance and geographic location that the most distant confirmed ancestor shows up. Sometimes that is the birth date and place, often times it is not. I have two different views of the web data. One designed with minimal info for easy printing on regular paper, and an expanded version with more information showing. I have been toying with various ways to jump start some of the Queen research by displaying the data in different ways, but I have just been to busy at work and getting ready for my vacation - to Ireland. Which begins later this day!!!!!! the two sites are http://webpages.charter.net/rlqueen/DNA/queenmarker.htm http://webpages.charter.net/rlqueen/DNA/queenmarker-x.htm Please, all of you, check the information on these sites, talk to the donors and see whether or not it reflects your current state of knowledge about you ancestor. When I get back we will all have a nice holiday discussion, over nog, about how to make our noggins solve some of these riddles of Queens in the past! 1. Re: [QUEEN] Old William Queen
    2. The 1801 date of death that you asked about is the date that Letters of Administration were granted to Stephen Hogue on the estate of William Queen Sr. by the Rutherford County Court. That was in April of 1801. Therefore it is impossible that his date of death was 8 or 9 years earlier in 1793. I show his date of death as 1801 in Golden Valley where he was buried.
