I actually visited Golden Valley about 10 years ago and interviewed residents of the area. Apparently even the graveyard is gone after 200 years of neglect. The earliest grave I ever found was my ancestor Jamison Queen in Lincolnton, NC. However, you bring up a good question. Maybe it's time to reexamine the story about the burial place of Old William. I recently bought a beautiful little book authored by Elizabeth Towery, a member of the list. As the book demonstrates, she has extensive knowledge of Golden Valley area, hopefully she or another cousin can shed some light on this question.
