    3. Reports of my death are premature, Queen-L was heard to say! Don't know about the rest of you, but I have been busy. I have also got a stack of research to go through, and now re-go through based on the results that just came back, and are now posted on the webpage. I thought I had sent a message to this effect, but I realize now that it did not go to the entire list. There probably has been a lot of off-list discussion that should be done on the list so that everyone can weigh in - so it is important to realize when you hit the reply button, that you probably need to hit the Reply-All button to make sure that the Queen-L list sees the response. Anyway, new results are posted on the webspreadsheet. The results now allow us to change the status of Group 2 (Samuel Queen) to CONFIRMED - at least at the 12 marker level - based on a perfect 12 marker match. This match for Group 2 has implications for the research into the origins of Francis Queen (Group 3), since that group (me) has been chasing some old and new theories that kept open the possibility that our line may have tied back into the Samuel Queen line - but the tie has always been problematic since there is another DNA participant whose ancestry also tied into that line, and our DNA did not match. Consequently, the results for the current participant were sure to take one or the other of us in some new directions. As it stands, looks like Old Francis is still looking to break that brick wall. However, we also know that results at the 12 marker level can be very fickle, so I strongly encourage the two DNA participants on the Group 2 line to upgrade to the 37 marker test. It will prove confirming and informational for both participant's research. I will let Gene and other's more knowledgeable about these lines weigh in, as I was only beginning to explore these lines as a result of following new theories on Francis Queen's origins. For those curious, there has been a theory floating around for a while, and there is a lot of circumstantial evidence to support it, that Francis Queen may have been descended from the Washington/Maryland Queens, and for the most part some of the descendants of that line are chronicled well in the genealogies of Charles Jerningham Queen. The theory was given some weight in the sense that it turns out that there was a large migration of Marylanders in the latter half of the 1700s that settled specifically in the Brushy Mountain area of North Carolina (where Francis Queen is first found in 1778) and, indeed, many of the other lines making up my ancestry can be traced. With the current DNA results, it appears that Francis can make no claim to direct ancestry from the Samuel Queen line. It is possible that Francis Queen may have come from that area and perhaps heritage, but there can be almost no doubt now that a male Queen from that line is responsible for our DNA. We can pilfer through all the possibilities, but other than the circumstantial connection to the Marylanders and the Brushy Mountains, we have no evidence to prove or make any specific claims. We are back at square one, in some ways. So, we are keeping all avenues of research open, but the DNA question itself seems to be resolved. I encourage the two participants in Group 2 to link up and help each other. Now I will point out that I am still waiting for direct male lineage information from several DNA participants to place on the expanded webpage. I believe that providing this information will open up areas in research and help make sense of the DNA. So once again, I ask for all participants, regardless of Group or number of matches to send along that information. Gene is right, when you can't help yourself, you may be sitting on some nice tidbit that may help someone else. The list provides that work space to toss out ideas and get them shot down! Everyone should be a moving target - only way that the strong ideas survive and get passed on to the next generation! Yep, 4 messages were posted to the list during April, which ties with 4 for March 1988. I suppose we don't have any more to share, any more research to do, anything of value to anyone to post any more. So, I suppose we should have a funeral service. Is there a minister in our group? Back in 1902 the family was getting ready to put dirt into the grave of my great grandfather, Rev. James Henry Queen. But, a family member looked up and there on his horse coming down the hill was L. D. Queen and someone spoke up, "Wait for Dee", or so the story was told to me by my great aunt - who was there as a young girl. So, let's wait for the service. I'm trying not to clutter the list as I once did; but there is more information "out there" that will help in the Queen research. I have a hunch that Samuel Queen of Md will be a topic in coming days. Old Henson Queen still deserves a close look by some of us. If we can't help ourselves, can we help others? Gene
