    1. [QUEEN] Queen Mysteries - Part 99
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Hi all, Research opportunities regarding Samuel Queen of 1776-1780???...and more: Samuel Queen (b. ca 1776-1780) m. Unknown (b. ca 1784-1794). Name is first located(?) as S. Queen on the 1810 Montgomery Co., NC census next to R. Queen (age 16-26). Next on the 1820 and 1830 Haywood Co. NC census. Possibly crossed over the Tuckasegee to Macon Co. with Joseph and William Queen, Sr. between 1830-1832. Disappears by 1840. Descendants: ...Unknown female (b. 1800-1804) ...?John Queen (b. 1802-1804) m. Unknown (b. ca 1800-1810) ...Unknown male(b. 1800-1810 d. 1810-1820 perhaps Montgomery or Macon) ...Unknown female (b. 1805-1810) ...James H. Queen (b. 1808) m. Isabella Bryson in 1929 ...Alfred Queen (b. ca 1810) m. Mary Ann Unknown ...Unknown male (b. 1810-1820) ...Unknown female (b. 1810-1815) ...Unknown female (b. 1810-1820) ...Unknown female (b. 1810-1820) ...Unknown female (b. 1810-1820) ...Unknown male (b. 1820-1825) Anyone care to tinker with this? I put John Queen of 1830 Macon census in as a son of this Samuel because: a) The YOB fits like a glove. b) Samuel's son, James H. Queen crossed the river over into Macon County before the 1830 census. I understand that's where his Bryson girlfriend, Isabella, was and he married her in 1829 Haywood. Joseph and William Queen, Sr. apparently crossed over by the time of their 1832 court appearance in Macon. Joseph was on the 1835 Macon Poll list for "Culliwhee"....and so was a John. c) A John Queen's name, age 20-30, appears on 1830 Macon Co., NC census. The household includes a female, age 20-30 and an unidentified male, age 10<15 (b. 1815-1820) I'm guessing that this unidentified male is the younger brother of John, who was listed with Samuel on the 1820 but not 1830 Haywood census. John's residence is 17 houses from James Queen and next door to William West. Also three houses from Thomas Welch, age 20<30. (More on this later.) By 1840 the world has turned upside down insofar as these folks and the Macon census is concerned: William Queen, Sr. has died. James H. Queen and Isabella have bought land on Scotts Creek and are there in Haywood with their children, Martha Jane, John B. and Sam Houston. Alfred Queen has left for Cocke Co., TN (after perhaps a short stay in Scotts Crk) Joseph Queen has left for Georgia. Samuel Queen (this one, not Dicy's husband) has left or died. John Queen (b. 1802-1804) has left or died. Notes: We know about the John Queen (b. 1810-1820) of 1840 Macon who married Martha Hickey. This John is not him. We know about John R. Queen (b. 1803) who married Mary Coward. He was a son of Samuel who married Dicy, and was in Haywood in 1830, 1840 and 1850. This John is not him. Therefore, this is an "unknown" John Queen (b. ca 1803). Or, was he, indeed the son of Samuel of 1776-1780? At least one interesting note. The 1840 Macon census DOES include the name of a John Queen. In the household is a male (b. 1770-1780), another male (b. 1810-1820) and a female (b. 1790-1800). This residence is 9 houses from Thomas Welch, age 30<40. We believe this to be the old John of Montgomery County (son of Henson Queen of ca 1742) with his son, John Queen who later married Martha Hickey. My "interesting note is" why did he move so close to Thomas Welch....who lived near the "other" John in 1830? And...who was this William Queen (another son of Henson Queen of 1742.)? The 1840 Macon census includes a Wm Queen household with males born 1780-1790, 1820-1825, 1825-1830 and <5, and with a female (b. ca 1790-1800) and other females. The 1850 Macon census includes a Wm Queen (b. ca 1790), Elizabeth (b. ca 1795) and a William (b. ca 1830). ............... Female Hof H 1830 Macon, pg 20: Mary Queen, 30<40 (b. 1790-1800) Male, 5<10 (b. 1820-1825) Male, <5 (b. 1825-1830) .................... Possible marriages of children of Samuel of 1776-1780...Macon Co. Marriage Register: 02-03-1833 Mary Queen m. Wm. B. Morgan (Wm. B. Morgan on 1835 Haywood County, Scotts Creek Poll) 10-26-1833 Margaret Queen m. Jessey Sherrill 11-8-1834 Mary Queen m. John Turner So, can anyone shine the spotlight? Thanks for any clues. I'm out for a few days. Gene
