    1. [QUEEN] More Queens into Haywood
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. My previous post reflected my current belief that the Joseph Queen of 1830 Haywood County, NC census who lived next door to Samuel Queen (not Dicey's husband) was probably the son of Wm. Lewis Queen, Sr.....as most researchers of these families had already concluded. I am of the opinion that this Samuel Queen was probably also a son of Wm Lewis Queen, Sr. and that this Samuel was one of the first Queen males to establish residence in Haywood County. Further, that this Samuel could have arrived a number of years prior to 1820. One list member posed the possibility in February of this Samuel being a son of Wm. Sr. She hypothetically listed "my" Alfred as the son of an Unknown Queen who was the son of Wm. Sr. She further wrote that "There is one male child in that family unaccounted for, so this is who I assigned (grin) your Alfred to belong to." She continued, "I have renamed him Unknown (Samuel) Queen." "The only catch is, this child was born about 1780, but that is not too far a stretch from "abt. 1776". (OEQ Note: If this is the Samuel of 1840 Habersham, GA and 1850 Rabun, GA; then 1780 is probably the date.) While I had certainly considered the possibility of the above; the age/identity of Samuel's next-door neighbor, Joseph Queen, had to be fixed in my mind first. Once Joseph was ruled out as being the older man in the 1830 household, the logical assumption was that Joseph and his dad moved to Haywood between 1820-1830 to live beside their brother/son, Samuel. So, perhaps, there's now at least three persons on this list who accept the probability/possibility that Samuel Queen (b. ca 1776-1780) was the son of Wm. Lewis Queen, Sr. (If the Joseph Queen and Samuel Queen who appear out of nowhere on the 1840 Habersham County, GA census are the same ones who left Haywood/Macon in the 1830's, then we'll really get on a roll.!). But, back to movements into Haywood. 12-4-1816 Marriage bond Timothey Queen to Mary Ann State (Slate?) with Saml. x Queen as bondsman. Was this Timothey a son of this Samuel (of 1776-1780)? 2-14 & 15, 1820: Joseph Queen purchased items from the estate of the late Joseph Turner. Samuel Queen owed $1.83 to Mr. Turner. The estate was administered by Bannister Turner and John State (Slate?). We know that Samuel Queen of ca 1776-1780 lived in Haywood by the 1820 census. Was his brother (?) Joseph visiting and did they attend the estate sale? Where did Joseph Turner live? 3-4-1820 Thomas Middleton sells land in Caney Fork to Henson Queen, but there was no Henson on 1820 Haywood census. He does appear on 1830. Did Henson not move to the land until after the 1820 census? 1820 Haywood Census. Only Queen male is Samuel as previously discussed. Where are: Timothey who married Mary Ann, Joseph Queen, Henson Queen? 2-7-1821 Henson Queen bondsman for marriage of Richard Holden to Barbarry Schunk. Has Henson now settled on his Haywood County land?? 2-1-1824 Harmon Queen married Polly Brock with a William Queen as bondsman. More Queens into Haywood County now. 1-19 & 20, 1827: Joseph Queen purchased 25 bu. corn from the estate of the late Ezekiel Brown. Who was this Ezekiel Brown and where did he live? Had Joseph moved to Haywood County by this time? He certainly resided here 3 years later. 10-17-1829 James H. Queen married Isabella Bryson. (James probable brother to Alfred; sons of Samuel of 1820 census.) 1830 Census (Katie bar the door, the Queens are coming!): Henson Queen 40<50 Samuel Queen 60<70 (husband of Dicey) Harmon Queen 20<30 John Queen 20<30 Wm Queen 30<40 Joseph Queen 30<40 Samuel Queen 50<60 Margaret Queen 40<50 Searching for clues regarding questions/possibilities presented here never stops. Any and all participation welcomed. I'm trying hard to stay focused on events prior to 1840 at this time. Gene
