Hello Lee, After reading your post regarding Nathaniel S. Queen, thought some of my data might be of help. You probably already have the info, but for those who might be interested and do not have the census records on Nathaniel S. Queen, here 'tis: Haywood County, NC, 1850 #563 - Queen, Nathaniel S. 23 NC Martha Jane 21 NC Melvin S. 3 NC Martha Ann 8 mo NC (They were married - 18 Feb 1847 in Haywood County./Martha Jane Rhodes) Haywood County, Forks of Pigeon Community, 1860: #3 - Queen, Nathaniel S. 34 NC Martha Jane 30 NC Melvin S. 13 NC Martha A. 10 NC Mary E. 8 NC Andrew S. 6 NC James Marion 4 NC Nancy J. 1 NC My ancestor, John Dyer, was in the 62nd, organized in Haywood County during the Civil War. he, also, was at Cumberland Gap and subsequently in Camp Douglas, Chicago, Ill. After release, he also had to walk home! His stories (partial) are contained in my Dyer book. Mention of John Dyer's walk home is included in a book on Union and Confederate Civil War Prisons called "Portals to Hell," by Lonnie R. Speer. Although I don't have Nathaniel's parents pinned down, suspect William B. Queen. Regards, Jerry
