    3. Hi Group! Interesting week for Burke County discoveries! H/W one of the most interesting: >From a survey posted in Burke County, NC- Quote: North Carolina, Burke County- By virtue of a warrant No. 9211 entered the 2nd of March 1827 - surveyed for TOBIAS QUEEN - one hundred acres of land on both sides of Mountain Creek and adjoining and running around three sides of the place where MOSES QUEEN now lives - beginning on a post oak on a ridge on or near the Rutherford line and on the west side of a path and runs No 50 degrees east one hundred & twenty poles to a white oak Queens old corner then South 41 degrees east with his line crossing the creek, one hundred twenty-eight poles to a stake at his corner then No 41 degrees E. with his line sisty four poles to a chesnut his corner then no with a line 41 degrees West one hundred & twenty eight poles crossing the creek to a large pine, then No 41 degrees East thirty four poles to a pine on the line of Queens other survey, then south with a line 50 degrees East twenty-eight poles crossing the creek to a white oak, then south 41 degrees east fifty poles to a stake, then S. 41 degrees west fouty-four poles to a stake then S. 41 degrees east eighty poles to a stake then South 41 degrees West one undred & eight poles to a stake then North 72 degrees west one hundred & eighty poles to the beginning - Surveyed 5th Oct 1827. Adam Swink} ? Sudderth,} C.S. Elijah Roper } C.B. End quote: Swink and Roper were chain bearers, Sudderth must have been the county surveyer. Important here to note that Tobias Queen bought land surrounding Moses Queen. Furthermore, the time frame dictates Tobias Queen is of age to buy a homestead (for his family?).
