    3. Dates? Dates? They are most helpful in genealogy. It's a little scary to realize we are dealing mainly with NC/TN/MS/AR/WV/O/IN/IL/MO/TX dates one hundred to 150 years ago. Wow! You asked--PALESTINE, in Anderson Co., TEXAS, was founded 1847 about the time the county was formed [1846] because no existing town was then in the center of the county [which was supposed to be established in the center within 15 miles of every citizen--for county business purposes.]. In 1847 a large group of settlers from TN and AL also settled on land 14 mi. NW of Palestine in TENNESSEE COLONY, which still exists as a town. It is in the "Piney Woods" of East Texas, lumber country and oil was discovered in 1928. I don't have a phone book to look for Queen names, but the Palestine Carnegie Library has been open since 1882 and ought to be helpful. I find no Queens listed in Anderson County in the 1900 Census list that I have of Queen families [with children]. For Queens in Navarro Co. see below. Looking at my brand-new FREE map of Tennessee [ordered from the state on the internet] I find Chattanooga, TN in MARION County; the county is sitting on the southern state line with a juncture of the Alabama and Georgia statelines just below it. Who are you looking for? Charlton and James Davis Queen have had me looking 40 to 60 miles to the east of Marion County at COPPERHILL, TN [just west of the NC stateline in the extreme south-eastern most point of the state of Tennessee]. Queens from there showed up in Navarro County, Texas around 1910. [Navarro County is the next county NW of ANDERSON County; Corsicana is the county seat, big oil town there], that makes Tennessee Colony some 48 miles SE of Corsicana, TX. ****David A. Queen appears in the 1900 Navarro Co.Census; born (1848 NC-1924) son of Meredith Queen [born 1823 NC-1907 TN]; David married Sue C. Bowden. Also in Navarro County in 1900 census; are: NAME COUNTY VOL/ E.D. /S.D. /LN. Hattie Queen-Navarro Co. 84 - 97 - 8 - 29 J.T. Queen- Navarro Co. 84 -100 - 10 - 41 Lillie Queen - Navarro Co. 84 -100 - 24 - 87 W.T. Queen - Navarro Co. 84 -100 - 10 - 37 Who are they? Could someone look them up and report to us? We have lots of Queens in Texas! Does this help, Rolla?
