    1. [QUEEN] FW: Adding members from other labs
    2. Rolla Queen
    3. For those of you who are really getting into the DNA and may have links to others who are using a different DNA testing company, you might want to pass this along to them. -----Original Message----- From: max@familytreedna.com [mailto:max@familytreedna.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 13, 2007 9:53 AM Subject: Adding members from other labs To Queen group manager, >From time to time we receive requests to allow people who have tested with other labs to join Family Tree DNA Surname Projects. We have always avoided adding results from other labs to our database because as a question of results integrity, we wanted that all project members to be tested with Family Tree DNA. In discussing this subject with a few group administrators we settled on a solution that was to their and our satisfaction: we agreed to offer our 12,25 and 37-marker at a below cost rate, so that we can allow those individuals to get tested with us and join your Surname Projects. But this will be offered for a limited time. The individuals will fill in a LAB CONVERSION FORM found at http://www.familytreedna.com/pdf/PROMO_GAP.pdf (this link is also at your GAP), and send it back to our office for verification, so that we can enter the order. Due to the fact that this is a below cost offer, we are limiting the time during which it will be available. Those forms need to be filled and returned to us by March 31, 2007. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. As always, we thank you for your support. E-mail anytime! 1. [QUEEN] I'm Not The Father
    2. O. Eugene Queen
    3. YDNA as used in our Queen Research Project does NOT establish proof of paternity of a child. However, with 3 men already claiming that they are the father of Nichole Smith's 5 months old baby.....I, here and now, declare that I am NOT the father of the girl. Just want to keep the air clear. Rolla, are you okay? Gene

    3. As usual, I suppose I'm late to "get it"; but am I getting there? In his mailing of Jan 12, Drew Welch provided some mighty interesting evidence supporting the notion of Timothy MacQueen as the father of old William Queen, thus the father of old John Queen as well. Unless evidence becomes available to the contrary, have Queen researchers concluded that this is true? William MacQueen (Queen) and John MacQueen (Queen) of Maryland and Anson County, NC are the sons of Timothy and Jane MacQueen of Maryland. Thanks, Gene

    3. Hey Queen Researchers, I am a McQueen researcher not a Queen researcher. I would state this is a theory or hypothesis, but not a "truth". There is evidence that McQueen families did come out of the same are of Yadkin and Pee Dee River Basin area of North Carolina after the suspected name change from MacQueen to Queen. I have located court records of a John McQueen in Orange County, VA in 1739. This could just as well be the son of Timothy. I am working on the family of a John McQuinn. He was born about 1739 in Virginia (the same area around Orange County where the John, above, was located) and moved to Fayette County, PA. This John had a son Timothy c 1795. Could this Timothy McQueen/McQuinn now McGuinn be the great grandson of Timothy of MD? There is evidence a Daniel McQueen of Richmond, Westmoreland and King George Counties, VA may have been the same Daniel who went to the Georgetown District of SC possibly from Virginia and was accompanied by Lewis relatives. His son married a John McQueen married a Rachel Lewis. There is evidence to support the conclusion, but I would not consider it "fact" until all records and evidence has been examined and further research is completed concerning these McQueen ancestors. These are just some of my thoughts, I hope they are helpful. Scott Kendall -----Original Message----- From: queen-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:queen-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of O. 3. Does anyone have any comments concerning this information I found on the internet? According to "A McQueen Family Historical Tour" by Sheila McQueen Ellison (Gardendale, Alabama: The Promise Publishing House) Research done by Jack McQueen of Elizabethton, Tennessee, states "John, Alexander, and David McQueen, brothers and Jacobite soldiers, were born in Scotland in the late 1600's. They were captured after the siege of Preston, Lancashire, and transported from Liverpool to Charleston, South Carolina, in 1716, on the "Wakefield", Master Thomas Beck. Alexander and David left the ship at Charleston, South Carolina: John left the ship at Baltimore, Maryland. He was bonded to an individual there, probably to pay for his passage. John McQueen settled near what is now Hershey, Pennsylvania, not far from Conawago Creek. He and his sons were on the tax roll there in the 1750's. Since John Sr. had arrived in the country in 1716, his sons, John, James and Joseph probably had children and maybe even grandchildren. I found no records of Samuel McQueen or any of John, Jr., James or Joseph McQueen's children in Pennsylvania. About 1760, John Sr., John, James, James (sic) and Joseph migrated to the area near what is now Statesville, North Carolina. In the library at Dandridge, Tennessee, is a report of the Hall family saying that James Hall and his wife, Prudence Roddy Hall, had a certificate stating that they were in good standing with the Conawago, Pennsylvania church. One of the signers of the certificate by the Sessions of Conawago was John McQueen. The Halls also stated that John Sr., John, James and Joseph McQueen settled in the Statesville, North Carolina area. Then, it seems, John Sr., John, James and Joseph McQueen disappear. About this time, the names of John Sr., John, James and Joseph McGoun or sometimes McCoun turned up on deeds, tax rolls, and other records. It is possible that because the Scottish people were out of favor with the King of England, the Scottish name was changed to sound more Irish. The King of England had appointed a Scot as governer of North Carolina, thinking he was Irish. The governor persuaded the King to let the persecuted people of Scotland migrate to North Carolina. They poured into North Carolina by the tens of thousands from Scotland and Pennsylvania. This John McGoun died in the Statesville area in the 1760's. His son, John McGoun, moved to Dandridge, Tennessee, where he died in 1793. One of his three sons he had named as beneficiary in his will was named Samuel. In a deed I came across made to Samuel McQueen, the name appeared as "Samuel McQueen (McGown)". If Samuel McQueen's father is John McQueen Jr. (McGown), then he is the Samuel McQueen that I follow down through Virginia to Radford, Virginia, before turning south into North Carolina, and then into Tennessee. The records at Fincastle, Virginia, show he owned land in the Radford area in 1770. In 1792 Samuel McQueen bought 270 acres on Roan Creek in the Mountain City area from Richard White who had lived near Samuel McQueen in the Radford area. One could almost throw a rock into New River, Watauga River, and the Yadkin River where they head near Blowing Rock, North Carolina. If this is our Samuel McQueen and if John McQueen Jr. is the father of Samuel McQueen, Samuel probably traveled back and forth to Cool Springs, where John McQueen Jr., his father John Sr. and John Jr.'s two brothers, James and Joseph, settled. He probably traveled by land, the nearest way, and not by New River and Yadkin River. Cool Springs is located about 10 miles from both Statesville, North Carolina and Mocksville, North Carolina, where Daniel Boone's father settled. The records back to Samuel McQueen are clear. The records from Samuel McQueen back to Scotland are slightly cloudy. This information may help someone to trace our ancestors back to Scotland or it could be just another dead end.

The questions of where Richard fits and whether the 19s or 20s came first in the very early Queen (or MacQueen) lineage seem to remain unanswered. Sometimes I miss the forest for the trees; but is there logic in these thoughts? 1. If the 19's descend from old William, then the 19s came after the 20s. 2. If the 19s descend from a brother to old William, then the 20 could have mutated with old William, leaving the 19 with his brother and descendants from that lineage. 3. Old William had the 20 since descendants of son Samuel and son William Lewis have the 20. 4. Since Richard had the 20, he would be of the old William lineage. Please rip into these thoughts and help me see. Drew, Rolla, anyone??? 3. Drew's question including the possible relationship of "nephew" draws me back to the question of old William and old John of early N.C.
