    3. OK. My question for you is this: 1) Is there anyone from this line represented in the DNA study? 2) I am trying to deal with coincidence. With so many people mentioned in this migration from 4th Creek in Iredell County, NC, to Missouri, along with a whole bunch of Queens, it seems to stretch belief that these Queens had no connection with my Queens in the Brushy Mountains of NC, in the NW corner of Iredell County. So what does the DNA tell us about this group of Queens that went to Missouri - and if there are no Queens represented in the DNA study from this group, and you guys are related to them, then what does your DNA say in our current study. Seems like this is an area begging for some explanation!! Enlighten me on this group. thanks Rolla

    3. Add my name to that also - there has been so little written about this branch of the Queen's I was on the verge of quitting this list figuring it would not profit me any. Thanks Rolla! By the way I am a descendent also from my Father Clyde Queen, Henry Queen, Harrison Queen, Cornelius Queen (from WV thru Ohio) and John Queen. A lot of the names on the list are also my ancestors, i.e., Seabourne, Hunt, Gallagher, Ruggles, etc. (hey Caledonia is a small town - intermarriage, etc). ========== On Jun 25, 2007, at 10:53 AM, billycurtisjr@tnni.net wrote: > > They are descendants of Charles Queen and Mary Haley from Harrison > County, Va. 2. They are descendants of Charles Queen and Mary Haley from Harrison County, Va. I must say that I am pleasantly surprised to see a post that includes the VA/WV Queens. I hope to see more from researchers of this line. I would love to swap info with any descendants of Charles and Mary Queen. Stumbled across this interesting link. http://genealogyinstlouis.accessgenealogy.com/bellevue.htm Although the Queens mentioned in it may be related to my line from Francis based on the heritage and proximity to the other folks mentioned in the document, a little research needs to be done. In the meantime, anyone out there related to or have knowledge of this group or Queens from this area? Thanks Rolla

    3. Sue, We will take it one step at a time. 1) Don’t worry too much about the numbers for the results. The meaningful information at this point is this. 2) The DNA matches perfectly at the first 12 markers with another Queen DNA participant (25551) who traces back to Samuel Queen born in the 1600s in Maryland. This is a cautionary match since we need additional results to be certain, but based on past experience, the match looks pretty solid. Your results for James and the results for the other Queen participant are grouped together on my webpage under the Group 2 (Samuel Queen) heading. 3) We know that the Marsham’s and the Queens were intertwined in this group, and since your first Queen descendant is Richard Marsham Queen and you can trace back through documents to the Maryland Queens, we know that at least that part of your line is connected – but you do not have DNA for this line. 4) The sample for James Queen matches the 25551 sample, therefore, James and Richard must have been related through a common male line, and were probably brothers, cousins, or 2nd cousins. 5) Both your James and Richard Queen lines trace back to Samuel Queen of Maryland. You need to be in contact with the participant 25551 for more information on this line. If he is monitoring this email, he should get in touch with you so you guys can talk. How is that for starters? 2. Scott D Kendall
    3. Hello Everyone, I am sending an email in reference to the announcement that Relative Genetics is partnering with Ancestry.com. I am sure those who have participated in the DNA study have received an email asking you to "opt in". Please at this time, DO NOT "opt in". There are several concerns we as project coordinators have concerning how the group studies will be handled and how they will insure your privacy and security. Once all the issues are addressed I will contact you concerning this issue. We have at least until July 15 before we make our final decision. If this is not best for our study we will seek and review any and all other options we have. Thank you for your cooperation, Scott Kendall MacQueen/McQueen/McQuinn DNA Study Administrator If you know of anyone who has participated in a DNA study at Relative Genetics, please forward this to them. They do not have to make a decision until July 15. At that time we should have more information.

Unfortunately I don't know too much about her. She is my maternal G-Grandmother. She died in 1929 and I know she is burried in Black Mountain, NC. She had 10 children (Raud, Lonnie, Ella, Johnsie, Earl, Mamie, Annie Mae, Dorothy) and was married to William David Smith. He passed 2 years after her. They were pretty transient, traveling where ever they found farm work. I know they spent some time in the Fort Mill, SC area. I haven't been able to find anything on any of the family. I suspect becuase "smith" is such a common name it will be near impossible. Again, thanks for your response! Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
