    3. Well, I haven't posted my family in a while anyway so if you can solve my TN Queen msytery, I might just kiss your feet! LOL :) That is my big question, how did my ancestor get to TN, from whence he came?, etc............. This is what I know about this John Queen (here we go w/the Johns!) If (Carol &) I follow James Campbell Queen back as far as we can, we (& a pd researcher) seem to think that John Queen and Mary Campbell who married in Maury Co, TN in 1816 are the parents of James C. Queen. This is what I found as far back and followed to and ending trail: 1810 where are they? 1812 Maury Co TN John Queen Enlisted in the War of 1812, TN Vol Mtd Gunman, Col RH Dyer, Pvt: Capt James McMahan. May 1814 Maury Co TN Co Court Records: John Quinn appointed a hand to John Edmondson to oversee Rock Creek Rd fr Fountain Creek to Josh Glovers. 4-30-1816 Maury Co TN John Queen married Mary "Polly" Campbell 1816 Lincoln Co, TN Queen, John land grant, 15 acres, G dist 1820 Franklin Co., TN Jno Queen: 3 m-10, 1m 10-16, 1m 16-26, 1m 45+; 2f -10, 3f 10-26, 2f 16-26, 1f 45+ 1830 where are they? 1840 where are they? 1847 records show James C. Queen in Wayne Co., TN 1850 AR? (son states on several census that he was b. in AR this yr) 1860 Wayne Co., TN census now that's it! This John does not look like a newlywed in 1820. He and Mary couldn't have had all those kids from 1816-1820. It looks like he might be living w/his parents or something? who are all those folks? Followed the Thomas Queen family around for a while thinking this may be him, but never came to any great conclusions. 3. Gene, I don't know if this will help or not but I found a Sharrel Queen in the Queen family book, no sex or birth date is given but parents were married in 1906 and the person is listed second in birth order. Parents were Francis Mason and Eva ( Adams ) Queen and looks like they lived in Gilmer County West Virginia. Carl E. Queen

    3. Oops, Before I put the cat out, here's why the interest in TN: Bill is looking for some 1828 TN Queens and I'm interested in info regarding the Samuel Queen of Whit (what's the full name?) County, TN, 1830 census pg 37. Bill's people: Francis Queen m. Elenor ...Ann (b. 2-10-1828 TN) ...Sarah G. (b. 2-11-1833 TN) ...James (b. 1836 TN) then: ...Martha (b. 1836 IL) ...William (b. 1841) ...Mary (b. 1843) ...Margaret (b. 1847) ...Richard (b. 1848) If the Samuel Queen of 1776 (in Haywood, NC 1820 & 1830) is mine, then good chance that some of his kids, in addition to Alfred of 1810, went into TN. My Alfred came back to NC, but I bet the other young'uns stayed. If the Joseph Queen of Haywood 1830 census was born ca 1740 and showed up in 1820/30 with grown kids; bet some of his kids went to TN instead of to NC. Just picking at straws. Gene

Or, were they in TN when TN was NC, so when TN was cut from NC to become TN they became Tennesseans? Did I spell that right? Confused? Not you, me? The real question is this for TN researchers....What were the names of Queen families who blazed the trail into TN and from where did they come? When did the first Queens arrive in TN? Just askin' Nite, Gene

    2. Mandy Queen
    3. Hi! This is probably being passed to a lot of mail groups but it really is a good idea. And we all know that we'll be sure and fill that census out!! Heaven forbid our folks go to looking for us years from now and can't find us! :) mq (not sure who the original auth. is) The year 2000 is a census year. Most of the census will be taken by mail. After you have filled out your census form, why not make a copy of it and file it with your important (genealogy) papers? Then your family will not have to wait 70 years to learn about you. -- Mandy Williams Queen, http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Bluffs/5932/ Queen-L, Criner-L & Twiner-L mail listowner; http:www.rootsweb.com/ Queen, Williams, Criner & Twiner Surname Message Board Coordinator; http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/index.html
