    1. [QUEEN] TN Queens
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Hi Wendy and all, In some ways I am a pessimist by nature. As such I have mostly pleasant surprises and few disappointments. (Not for everyone, but it works for me.) Anyway, the 1840 Washington Co., TN microfilm has just arrived and I will start reviewing this week-end. My target is neighbors of Isaac Queen. The pessimist in me doesn't expect to find any startling revealations; but the optimist says LOOK carefully. Any special requests of anyone regarding data which may be on the film? Gene

    1. Re: [QUEEN] Tennessee Queens
    2. Well guys, I don't have much and I am in a real hurry but I will put a bug into you ears to think about till I can gather my research and give more details if I havew them. I see everyone mentioning Tenn and I always wonder if someone will come up with my line. But every e-mail is minus names that I have ties with. Well, maybe I can now help someone else. Maraday (Meredith)QUEEN b. July 11, 1823 in North Carolina, Rutherford or Lincoln Co. m. 1st wife Sarah Lavinia Summey in Lincoln Co. N.C. on Sept 25, 1843 m. 2nd. Winnifred A. Neal from Grenada Co, Mississippi Died; April 27 1907 in Hardeman Co., Tenn These Queens left Lincoln Co., N.C. and went to Tippah Co, Mississippi. With them went Maradays parents George Queen and his wife Nancy. They both died in Miss. and were buried in New Hope Cemetary, Benton Co., Miss. George died in 1877 and Nancy died in 1854. Maraday Queen was quite well know in the town he lived in and was President of the Board of Supervisions of Benton Co. Sometime after 1876 ( I assume probably after his fathers death in 1877) he moved his family to Hardeman Co,Tenn where his wife Winnifred died on Dec 17, 1905 and he died on April 27, 1907. He is buried in the town of Grand Junction, Hardeman Co., Tenn. Hopefully this will help a bit or spurn someone to tell their information. I love all of your information that is shared. You all know so much. Queens are top notch -A+ super stars. Have great days one and all. Am looking forward to see if any Tn Queens are related. Wendy

    1. [QUEEN] Correction - Alfred and Susan Queen
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Hi all, In a msg of Feb 12, subject "Alfred Queen of Iredell County, NC" , I suggested that the marriage date of 7-25-1837 for Alfred Queen and Susan Brotherton appeared to be a typo and should have been 1827. My mistake. The LDS website reports the marriage date to be the same as Reiley's webpage. In addition, if the Alfred and Susan of 1850 Union Co., GA are the same folks, then their oldest child in 1850 was age 12. Assuming birth 9 months or so after marriage in 1837, the child would have been born in 1838..a neat fit of the dates. It's math mistakes such as this on my part which causes folks at work to ask me....are you sure that you're an accountant? Again, my apologies. Gene

    1. [QUEEN] a note about the available information in the "footnotes"
    2. Reiley Kidd
    3. I am thrilled to see all the activity now on the Queen List, and hope that it can continue! Several messages have referenced the document that I collated last year, from all the submissions to the Queen Mail List the last go-around, on the North Carolina Queens. That document grew to 80+ pages, and is available on my web page, at http:www.geocities.com/Heartland/Bluffs/2864/ I wanted to let newcomers to the list know of the document's existence, and to tell EVERYONE that the footnotes wouldn't copy simply in to the document on the webpage (since I update it periodically, the numbering changes with each addition), so you have to e-mail me with specific questions, and I e-mail you the pertinent part of the document as a MS Word document, with footnotes included. I've had several hundred visitors to my page, but only TWO requests for footnotes, which surprises me. In addition to giving the source of each fact cited, the footnotes ALSO guide users to others researching the same individual, since I include names, addresses and e-mail addresses of contributors. Feel free to contact me if you want the footnotes for a particular entry, or for one or several individuals. I won't promise immediate turnaround, but I WILL promise to respond within a few days. 1. Re: [QUEEN] MEREDITH AND ELIZABETH QUEEN
    2. betty knight
    3. Stevie, If Elizabeth was 30 in the 1850 census then she would have been born in 1820. Mary Polly Queen was born c1824 and Thomas c1826 so they would have to been parents at a very early age. Thomas would have been only 11 and Mary 13. All the census data in Union Co, placed Elizabeth Brackett Queen's dob c1837/40. I am more inclined to think that Felix Brackett of Habersham fits the timeframe since his daughter Eliza was born in GA and there were Queens living next door.I may be totally on the wrong track. Also, Morgan and Amanda Walker Brackett had a son, named Daniel, unproven(correct). This is a possibility also. Elizabeth is a common Brackett name. It seems that the father of the Bracketts in Hall and Lumpkin was married to an Elizabeth(Betsie). We will solve this sooner or later. 3. Hi Vicki, We definitely have a match on Elisha England. Elisha is brother of Richard England who married Martha Montgomery. They are my GGGgrandparents. Elisha and Richard's parents were Daniel and Margaret Gwynn England. Daniel died in Burke Co, NC c 1817. Margaret, his wife, moved to Habersham Co, GA, as she drew land lots as a widow of Daniel, who was in Rev. War. Some of her sons were already in Habersham Co when she moved there. Richard England had a gold mine there and some of the ruins still stand. There is a wonderful book written by Matt Gidney, entitled, "Living on the Unicoi Road" which mentions the England family including Elisha ,and other early pioneer families to the area along with gold rush tales. Now, as far as the names, Elisha Stanhope House and Felix Walker House, I would have to say that someway the House family is connected with some descendands of Col John Walker of Rutherford Co, NC, who is my 4th GGrandfather. Col John Walker had a son named Felix. Felix Walker had a daughter named Elizabeth Stanhope Walker. Felix had one brother named Jacob who had a son named Stanhope. Felix had another brother named William Daniel Walker, who I descend from through Mary Amanda Walker who married Morgan Brackett. The Stanhope name is connected to the Walker family going back to England with Ursula Stanhope marrying Thomas Walker. I hope one day we can connect the Queens also, Betty From: "Vicki Shaffer" <tngibson@worldnet.att.net> >Reply-To: "Vicki Shaffer" <tngibson@worldnet.att.net> >To: "betty knight" <bettyknight@hotmail.com>,<QUEEN-L@rootsweb.com> >Subject: Re: [QUEEN] GA Queens >I don't have a Jane that could be yours in my file BUT I'm curious about >the >Felix Walker name. 1. [QUEEN] MEREDITH AND ELIZABETH QUEEN
    2. Stevie Powell
    3. Eugene Queen, Betty Knight and others. Last night while going through some old papers on Queen, I found a notation on the Meredith and Elizabeth Brackett family in Union County, Ga. In 1850 Meredith Queen and wife Elizabeth with children John, Mary and James were living in Rutherford County listed on page 287. Now could this Elizabeth be the daughter of Thomas Brackett and Mary Polly Queen. Would appreciate your thoughts on this. In this census Meridith is age 35 and Elizabeth 30. John 5, Mary 4 and James age 3.

    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Hi all, The * (meaning possible or probable link) is gone from my file regarding the subject. Based upon adequate (for me) circumstantial evidence, I have concluded beyond any reasonable doubt that James H. Queen of 1808 (who married Isabella Bryson) and Alfred Queen of 1810 (who married Mary Ann and lived in Cocke Co., TN and Haywood/Jackson Co., NC) were brothers. Further, I have concluded beyond any reasonable doubt (for me) that Samuel Queen (b. ca 1776-1780) of the 1820/30 Haywood Co., NC census was their father. The search continues for other tidbits of evidence concerning this relationship; but the greater priority now for me is the identify of Samuel's other children (James and Alfred's brothers and sisters) and the location of Samuel after the 1830 Haywood census. If anyone really wishes a summary of the circumstantial evidence (after I put it in final form), please advise and I'll respond direct to you rather than clutter this list with my interpretation of the data. Gene
