The Church of the Annunciation is located at Massachusetts and Idaho Avenues, N.W., about three blocks west of the Washington National Cathedral.
I'm probably way behind the times, but has anyone else checked out www.familytree.com? I just spent two hours there and I didn't dent the surface. It contains the results of 1000's of submissions categorized by name along with 1000's of verified sources of the same names. The exciting things I discovered were records of the marriage of Timothy MacQueen and Jane Henson in the MD. Marriage Index 1624-1915 and verification of the marriage in "Colonial Families of Maryland" I also wrote to several Queen researchers that I've had no previous contact with. There's information on Jane Henson's possible parentage in "They Lived in Somerset" As those of you who have been keeping score know, Jane's last name has not previously been verified. I've ordered backup material and I'll keep you posted. Time for my nap. Don Queen

Subj: web site Date: 09/18/2000 9:11:40 PM Pacific Daylight Time From: Zippytippy@aol.com To: QUEEN-admin@rootsweb.com Hi! I belong to about 117 of the family lists because I love genealogy (my husband thinks I'm addicted !). I have found these 'lists' not only invaluable to my research, but, most often the basis of the information I have on my family. I realized one day that even though I have 13,000 names in my database, I have only seen about 25 photos of my ancestors. Because of that, my nephew, sister and I spent about 2 months designing a web-site: www.ancientfaces.com This site is for any/all families to store not only their ancestors photos, but also family stories, old documents, and traditional family recipes. We just went 'live' 10 days ago. I don't believe there is anything out there that can replace any of these valuable family list sites, but we tried to create (we're still working on it daily) this site as a 'visual' compliment to all of the written work- you know, a "face" with a name. Uploading is easy, free, and anyone can upload as much as they like. Please check it out, and feel free to post it to your members. Thanks! Wondering if anyone tagged the children of the subject, John Queen, and would care to share their names and other specifics? The last I recall of discussions on this list a year or so ago, perhaps concluded that this may have been the trail of this John: 1850-1860 presume that he died. 1850 Macon Co., NC census at age 76, born in Montgomery Co., currently living in Macon with son, John. 1840 Macon Co. NC census at age 60<70. Son, John, at age 24 in household. 1830 Burke Co., NC census at age 50<60 1820 Burke Co., NC census at age 45+ 1810 Rowan Co., NC census at age 26<45 1800 Rutherford Co., NC census at age 16<26 Also a note that a John Queen married a Mary "Polly" Campbell on 4-30-1816 in Maury Co., TN. She the daughter of Thomas J. Campbell. An obvious question is was this the same John...moved from Rowan after 1810 to TN then back to Burke by 1820? Can anyone confirm (source) this marriage info...or add to/correct any of the above data? Thanks. Gene
NC Marriage Bonds lists: Henson Queen m. Zelpah Glass on 9-27-1831 in Burke Co. Bondsman was F. P. Glass 1840 Cherokee Co., NC census (Posted on 9-11) lists a Henson Queen and female in household, both age 30<40. Two children ages 5<10 and one age <5. >From some source (the late Janet Horn being one probability) I have the following which may (or may not) relate to this Henson: Henson Queen and Zelpah Glass children: Isabella (b. ca 1832) Julius A. (b. ca 1836) David P. (b. ca 1838) The above 3 would "fit" the 1840 census listing. Martha (b. ca 1840) Lucinda (b. ca 1845) Charity Pauline (b. ca 1848)..Janet's g. grandmother on mom's side This Henson would have been born (per the above census listing) ca 1800-1810. >From an age standpoint, this would put him in the range of a younger brother to the Margaret Queen (b. ca 1810) who married Jesse Sherrer and lived 7 houses from them in the 1840 Cherokee Co., NC census. Comments, clues anyone? Thanks. Gene

Regarding Reiley's post of marriage bond of Margaret Queen (dau. of John Queen) to Jessey W. Shearer on 10-26-1833: Listed in 1835 Poll Books of Macon County were: John Queen in Culliwhee Election Precinct. Jesse W. Shearer (listed in second election as Jesse Sherrer) Franklin Precinct. James Shearer listed in Deep Creek Precinct West Truit also of Franklin Precinct. (could not find an Isaac Truitt in Macon Co.) Regarding bond of Mary Queen (dau of Samuel Queen) to William B. Morgan on 2-3-1833: William Morgan (2 of 'em) listed in Franklin Precinct (but no William B.) Ruds Morgan listed in Fairfield Precinct A Wm B. Morgan is listed on pg 157 of 1840 Macon census and HH703 on the 1860 Macon. Problem is, wife is listed as Ellen....wonder if Mary Ellen? I have a particular interest in both these marriages....Samuel Queen probably the pa of my Alfred of 1810 and a John and Joseph Queen in Culliwhee area in 1835. Gene

QUESTION: With all this Meredith, Meridy, Mariday and an assortment of other spellings, it reminds me that we "think" Wm. Lewis Queen Sr.'s wife, Maragaret, maiden name was Meredith. Anyone have any luck researching the surname Meredith?
