2. CLAN MACQUEEN MACQUEEN HISTORY MACQUEEN OF CORYBROUGH CLANN MHIC SWEYN The MacQueens were of the Clan Donald of the Isles, and descended from the ancient Irish-Scots King Fergus the First, who founded the island Kingdom of the Lords of the Isles in 300 B.C. Their progenitor was Roderick Dhu Revan MacSweyn, or MacQueen, a descendent of a daughter of one of the Island Lords. Having forsworn his allegiance to Donald Balloch who had called out the Island septs and the Catherans after Lord Alexander s imprisonment, Roderick MacQueen joined with the Mackintosh, Captain of Clan Chattan, in support of the Royal troops and lent his aid in bringing order into the turbulent west Highlands. For this he received a grant of land in Inverness-shire, near the Mackintosh territory. MacQueen built a Castle called Corrybrough, and thereafter remained in that district. He had fought previously under the Chattan standard at Harlaw, and continued to march with the Clan Chattan during the feudal contests and the Wars for the Stuart Kings. The MacQueens signed a bond of Manrent, holding their lands from Mackintosh, who was Governor of Inverness. They acquired wide territories in Inverness and Nairnshire. The two families intermarried, and though the MacQueens were of MacDonald origin, they were for more than three hundred years a loyal sept of Clan Chattan.

2. Jeff Drake
3. My wife is a Queen, and we¹ve been researching this line for a little while now. We¹ve come to a rather interesting character: her gg-grandfather, Henry Caleb Queen. Henry is the son of Henry Queen and Mary ³Molly² Belcher, and the husband of Armenta Hagar; however, there doesn¹t seem to be much agreement on when he was born. Everybody seems to agree that good ol¹ H.C. was born on the Fourth of July, but some people say 1851 and others say 1871. To complicate matters further, his father was born in 1827 and his son Basyle in 1896 (four years after he married Armenta), so either one makes sense! Anyone researching this line? Thanks, Jeff (& Anna) Drake -- Researching: DRAKE, FANNING, MYERS, DURHAM, DONKERSLOOT, van der MEER, GROENENDIJK, MAYER; QUEEN, JONES, CAREY, FLOYD, WORLS, WEEKLEY, LeGRAND, ROWSEY
