Surnames: QUEEN, SHOWERS Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/3YBBAEB/532 Message Board Post: I am searching for some additional information on my family from Macoupin Co. IL, James Queen was the father and Nicholas Polk Queen is my gggrandfather. Nicholas married Mary or May Amanda Showers and they moved onto homestead in AR. Any info that might be out there would be helpful to add to what I already know. My big curiousity is that Nicholas "dissappeared" at some point in AR and seems to have resurfaced in WY after the turn of the century with a new wife but with no death record anywhere to be found. Thanks. Tim

    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Yes, Jimmy. The Isaac Queen (b. ca 1806-1809) descendants have been holding reunions for years in the area of Epworth/Mobile. I drove to Ga in 2000 and attended the reunion at the inviation of a wonderful lady, Delsie Norton Queen, widow of Rufus Deward Queen. Rufus descended from Alfred B. Queen (b. 1833 d. in Oklahoma). Alfred had sons; Emory Jackson Queen, John Queen, Thomas J. Queen and Albert Leander "Lee" Queen. Alfred was one of the sons of Isaac Queen, Sr. (1806-09). 1. Re: [QUEEN] Earliest Know Location
    2. Rolla Queen
    3. What we want when we ask for "earliest known location" is the the first confirmed documented geographic locale where your "brick-wall" first shows up. For most folks, the earliest confirmed ancestor's earliest known and confirmed locate will be the birthplace. But for others, the first confirmed documentary siting of their ancestor might be at some later date and place, and the birthplace may be of speculation, but not really confirmed. So even if you are pretty sure that someone was born in Iredell County NC, but you are not positive, but they positively show up at age 25 in Cobb County Georgia, then I would list Georgia as the earliest known location. Perhaps I should add a column to the spreadsheet to distinguish suspected birth place from first documented location. Both of these bits of information can prove useful in linking all these people sharing common DNA. 2. RITAB
    3. The latest results are very interesting. We now have 7 donors that match in all 37 markers. Two of those 7 are from the Hence Queen line (Kits 26707 and 24404). Although Hence's earliest and only known location is listed as Rabun County GA (1850 census), his five children usually list their father's birth place as North Carolina in later census records. One of Hence's sons moved to Oklahoma (James Harve) in the late 1800s/early 1900s, but the other two sons moved back and forth between NC and GA. Can't speak for the daughters since I haven't fully documented their families in the census data. I have compared information with one or two others in this perfect match group, but we haven't been able to find a common place and time for our ancestors. Still looking though... Rita

    3. Sorry, Gene, my copy didn't pick up the 1850 census Williamson County TX where William is in Reuben Queen's household BUT Don Chandler sent the 1850 in his-mail and you can find it there. My addenda: As to why William Queen, brother, of Arkansas is in the household: 1) possible his wife died so he came to TX 2) possible he was sick and came for care 3) possible visit only [he doesn't appear to stay] 4) maybe mother Queen [Mary Butler Queen] died about this time [but I believe she lived later than this]. 5) Perhaps he helped Hulda Queen Davis and her two girls with their move from Arkansas to Williamson County TX. I have a statement by Isaac Boren's family that he brought her with his train to Texas [no date given, but about this time]. Her husband had died in Arkansas. She came "home" and later remarried to Mr. Williams and they moved to California. [Teddy Noye's connection to the family]. I'm of the impression that William's family stayed in northwest Arkansas [Carroll County] or over the border in eastern Indian Territory [later Oklahoma]. Thanks to Don Chandler for sending his information. Katy
