All brothers? Wish it was true but have to take my Hampton born ca 1796 out of there, because in 1825 there was a Hampton born to Sarah Jones and James Queen, born ca 1777. This is the Hampton mentioned in James will. It is my understanding that this is documented by family tradition. Plus you have census showing Hampton in 1860 - Rutherford Co., NC federal census shows Hampton Queen 35M b. NC, Betsey 37F NC, Louisa 16F NC, James 11 NC, Milly 9 NC, Eliza 7 NC, Thomas 1 NC, Sarah 77 NC. (Sarah being James Queens wife, this Hamptons mother.) (Per Reiley's web page.) 1870 - Burke Co, NC, Hampton 45, Elizabeth 46, plus children. Good idea Katy - Hampton had to have siblings somewhere. The dna test tells us that those of us that match at 37 markers share a common ancestor, and just doesn't tell us where and when. I keep looking at William Lewis Sr and clan - just can't seem to find that elusive clue. Anyway - thanks again and waiting for more responses. Glenda

    1. The Pleasant Queen Schrum
    2. Katy McMillen
    3. Nancy, No. 2---I believe the name is "Louellyn" and that the census man did not know how to spell it. So it would have been "Pleasant Louellyn Queen", and, if it is as you say, he eventually dropped the "Pleasant" and was called by the name which sounded like "Lou Allen". He could have spelled it "LouAllen".[Is it a Welsh name?] No.1: Your objections are duly noted--I am asking for a "schrum"--which is all of those involved getting into a group and battling out the details. [I haven't heard from the others.] I'll try to referee, and, we'll put Rolla in the "A" chair [Authority] since he understands the DNA better than I do. Let's get the others to discuss this group: Here's the schrum: 1.Hampton b. 1796 2.Jamison Queen b. ? 3.William Allen b. 1804 NC? 4. Alfred b. 1808? To MO / Iowa? 5.Pleasant L. b. 1810? To Ark /TX All brothers? WHY NOT? Sisters-- Mary Queen Hall and Letty Queen Hall. FATHER: James Queen? son of William Lewis? Grandfather "Old William" ? Thanks for your reply--Let's see what the others say. Cheers! Katy ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Saturday, April 23, 2005 10:35 AM Subject: Re: [QUEEN] Fw: Pleasant Queen Kathy, 1). I believe Gene's Alfred is through the son of William Lewis Sr, William Lewis Jr, and mine is Jamison son of James Queen, from Jamison to me I am sure of my facts. and I am not sure Glenda and my Hampton are the same. Phil is not sure he agrees with me about William Allen, as I said, I have only his name from my mother. 2). I believe the "Lou Allen" is being picked from the census taker from the census with that spelling, I have Leuelin and Lewellen and that is the son Pleasant who is on the 1850 census as age 4, and listed as Pleasant Queen. On the Civil War record Pleasant Sr. is listed as Pleasant L. Queen, so he must be named after his father. 3. To whom it may concern; That is, to those related to Pleasant. What is the proper spelling (I know how tough that is) of Lou Allen / Luelin Queen? If she is really Lou Allen that represents a possible tie to William Allen Queen. The Lou could also tie in, but there are other ways that name could have come into WAQ's family. --Phil Minch-- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Katy McMillen" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 20, 2005 5:00 AM Subject: [QUEEN] Pleasant Queen > Charlton, here's my current file on Pleasant. 1. Mr or Mrs Worth
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Looking for a Queen ancestor with the maiden name of "Worth". Interesting that my Alfred Queen named one of his sons, Ellis Worth Queen. Worth certainly sounds as if it's someone's surname. Alfred's wife, Mary Ann's maiden name apparently was Addis or Akins. Thus, Worth may have been Mary's mother's maiden name. Also, the Worth DNA Project has a donor whose DNA at the 25 marker level is 3 mutations (on markers 13-25) from the Queen dominant markers and only two markers from one of the samples. (Perfect match at 12 markers for Queen dominant markers.) So..........am looking for "Worth". Thanks, Gene

So you Group 1 folks are going to have to stop scratching your heads and come up with some plausible scenarios - and some more participants. I mean, you are all connected somehow, and it all must add up in those one or two generations between Old William and 1800. Me! I am just going to sit back and watch the fun. Popcorn, anyone?! 1. Re: [QUEEN] John R. Queen Jr b. 1875 Burke Co.NC
    2. The link you provided does not work, but it may refer to John Robert Queen b. 1873, a son of John Henderson Queen of Burke County. John Robert was the owner of the largest barber shop in South Carolina. Quite a character. I have a copy of an article written about him, his barbershop and his camping with Thomas Edison. Please clarify the link. Thanks, Don Queen ----- Original Message ----- From: "Drew Welch" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 20, 2005 6:04 AM Subject: [QUEEN] John R. 1. Re: [QUEEN] Charles Queen in GA b. ca 1890
    2. Hi Again Forgot to mention that Charley Frank Queen and his wife Gladys D. are buried at the Rest Haven Cemetery in Monroe, Ga. This is where my mother, father, two brothers, an uncle and my father's father and mother are buried in the Redmond plot. My Grand Pa Redmond took care of two of the Monroe City cemeteries years ago. From the Home of Jimmy and JoAnne Redmond Sr

    1. Re: [QUEEN] Charles Queen in GA b. ca 1890
    2. Mistake on my part. It's Charley Frank Queen not Charles Frank Queen. Born June 22, 1888 . He married Gladys DeVane. From the Home of Jimmy and JoAnne Redmond Sr
