I also very much appreciate all that King Rolla has done for Queen Research including his digesting of YDNA statistical/genetic data and helping us understand what in the wide world of sports it's all about. In the months and years to come it would be well to find ways to bring in samples representing other "old" Queen lineages not yet identified as to parentage. I'm thinking of Meredith Queen (b. ca 1815) of the Rutherford County area and "old" Richard Queen. Who are some of the other early Queens that are not yet linked to a YDNA sample? Let's build a list and see what we can come up with. Gene

    3. Don, I think I can point out one error in the information (below) which you posted on May 1, 2005. It is this statement: +Moses was born 1781 and married Jane Weedon The source of this statement is uncertain, but this is the SAME marriage bond that actually belongs to Meredith/Maraday Queen and Jane NEWTON. I don't believe you'll find a marriage bond or other record of any Moses Queen to a Jane Weedon. I could be wrong on this, but I'm willing to bet that I'm not. 3. I didn't want to respond off list as this information may be helpful to someone else: I don't know what the "H" stands for in George H. Queen's name. I have not found reference to it in any documents I have seen. I don't know of a marriage / relationship between George H. Queen and Sarah Pruit Cook. Will you share your information regarding this relationship? Children of George H. and Fanny Peeler (that I know of) are Cicero Queen, Frankie (Sis) Queen and Cynthia Queen. Children of Cicero and Martha Glascoe are George Ivey, Bessie, Zero, Essie, Pearl, May and Docie. Cicero may have had several wives - although I only have documentation of one. If you have other information regarding this group of Queen's, please let me know. 3. Hi cousins A DNA roll call - here we go. At the bottom of the email are the 'bare facts' as I know them. And yes there are spots that need to be filled in. I've only listed Hampton and children. My DNA Line - Hampton, William H., John H., Father, and then my brother. Hampton comes in with the 37 proposed baseline of Old William. Other tidbits I can toss in. Hampton born North Carolina, goes to Wayne County Indiana, gets married there 1820, moves around Indiana abit, and then goes to Madison County Iowa. Based on the research I've received the family story is that he opposed slavery. His home in Indiana and maybe in Iowa was a half-way house for the underground. What else - Most of my data is from a document I received via a Queen List-mate - prepared by Marjorie Queen, some of which I've verified some I have not. (Kathy if you see anything wrong feel free to jump in.) In her booklet she lists Hampton as being born in Rutherford County, NC, and uses as a source "Mrs. Minta May Queen Armitage". (A descendant of the Hogan Queen listed below.) No way to know if this was family lore, or fact. His wife Hannah Williams was born about 1800 in Jefferson County Tennessee. They supposedly headed from Tennessee to Wayne County Indiana around 1816 according to a county history. Hannah's father was a Quaker, but his wife Jane Woodward was not.
