    1. Samuel Queen of 1759 DNA
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Who was Reuben R. Queen (b. ca 1871) and who was Albert Henson Queen (b. ca 1879)? Who was their most recent common ancestor and how does that ancestor link to subject? Those who are following the YDNA project may find it worthwhile to be able to answer the above questions. Just playing a bit with the mind and research reliability. Gene

    3. 1. Harve Queen
    2. RITAB
    3. NatureAnyone on the list researching this line? Harve (J.H. or James Harve) born 1854 GA. He is listed as head of household in the 1880 Clay County NC census. His mother (Nancy) and sister Sarry (Sarah Jane) Cheek and her daughter Anna live in the house with him. He marries Docie (or Docia) McFalls in 1881 in Clay County NC where marriage records list his parents as Henson and Nancy Queen. By 1900 he and Docie have 8 children with 6 living, and another son (Lionel) is born in 1901. In 1910, the family resides in Granite, Greer County, Oklahoma. Harve is widowed by the 1920 census (Docie dies in 1917) and lives in the household of Tom and Saner Glazner or Glaisner (Harve’s daughter) during the 1920 and 1930 census. Harve dies in 1939 and is buried with wife and son Paul in Corinth Cemetery, Greer County OK. According to Harve’s death certificate, his parents were Husley Queen and Nancy York. Since the death certificate information was provided by his daughter or son-in-law, I believe the father ’s name may be incorrect.

    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. If there are any descendants/researchers of subject who are interested in the YDNA of one or more living donor candidates thru the reported James Smith Queen (b. ca 1819) lineage; let's talk. I had a very interesting visit in Gaston County yesterday with two descendants and spent some time on the phone this evening with another candidate through another branch. Regretfully, it appears that my "crack-thru" was by marriage. My Alfred's daughter, Amanda Catherine, married one of the sons of James Smith Queen and it appears that my distant cousin who came to Gastonia and roomed with one of the descendants of James Smith Queen was related - but only through this 1883 marriage. I'm still working leads in Gaston County and expect to find a donor through the lineage of another son of Alfred to help answer the question of the DNA of my Alfred. Thanks, Gene

    2. RITAB
    3. Jimmy, this may be a possibility. The only record I have of Hence is in 1850 Rabun County GA census. I've tracked his widow and children through subsequent census years, but have never found a clue on Hence's parents or siblings. Where was your Joseph B in 1850? Also, we have another DNA sample coming from the Hence line. That may shed more light on Hence's true path.

    1. Analysis of Recent YDNA Results
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Regarding the new YDNA results: Alfred Queen (1810) and Mary had sons and daughters. One son was James Henry Queen (b. 7-1847). He and Rebecca had sons and daughters to help populate the earth as instructed thousands of years ago. The second son of James was William Monroe Queen (b. b. 1877). Grandpa Monroe and grandma Lula Queen had sons and daughters. The YDNA of one of Monroe's grandsons through son Samuel Oscar Queen is represented by kit 34392. There are mutations on allele 447 and 576. The YDNA of one of Monroe's grandsons through son Roy Erastus Queen is represented by kit 23313. There are mutations on allele 447 and 576. They match the mutations of kit 34392. YDNA conclusion 1: The most recent common ancestor of these two grandsons of Monroe Queen is none other than grandpa. Thus YDNA concludes what grandpa and the two grandkids already knew. Now, back to James Henry Queen (b. 7-1847).... The third son of James was John B. Queen (b. 1879). John's first wife was Kiney Hunnicutt. They, too, helped populate the earth. The YDNA of one of John B. Queen's grandsons through son Wilbur Hasten Queen is represented by kit 28106. There is one mutation from the old William Queen lineage and that mutation is on allele 447. YDNA conclusion 2: The YDNA of Rev. James Henry Queen (b. 7-1847) contained a single mutation on allele 447 and that mutation was passed on to sons William Monroe and John B. We don't know the origin of the mutation on 447. Did Alfred, the pa of James Henry, have it? Did Alfred's grandpa have it? YDNA conclusion 3: The YDNA of William Monroe Queen, son of James Henry, picked up another mutation. That random mutation is the one on allele 576. Grandpa then passed these two mutations down to two of his grandsons. Probably all of his grandsons, but two proven thru YDNA testing. YDNA conclusion 4: The YDNA mutation of allele 576 of grandpa originated with him at his birth in 1877. Anyone else that has the same mutation on allele 576 could not have gotten it from grandpa unless that person was born after grandpa reached puberty. Emphasis: Grandpa Monroe did not get the mutation from anyone. It originated with him at his birth. Gene's conclusion regarding the same mutation for the donor of kit 24329 (one of Reuben Queen's descendants): That donor is not a descendant of grandpa Monroe. Monroe lived his life in the mountains of NC. I understand that the donor of kit 24329 and recent ancestors lived their lives in the Texas area. Yes, the Reuben donor has the same mutation on allele 576. But, the donor does not have the mutation on allele 447. Thus, the mutation on allele 576 for this donor is also a random mutation either with the donor or back up his family tree. 1. Hannah Jane Queen Shelton?
    2. Linda
    3. Someone posted info on another group giving that Hannah Jane Queen, d. 1804, GA, md. Joseph Clements SHELTON and had a son, William SHELTON who md. 1-Mary BATES, 2-Lydia PARKER. I have no further info on Hannah Jane. A recent post on the SHELTON message board says that a descendant of this William SHELTON has had a DNA test and matches another, older William from VA (probably his father) who was also married to a Hannah but she was a Yates. Just wondering if anyone has info on Hannah Jane who md. Joseph Clements SHELTON? Also, giving a "heads up" to any other Queen researcher who had the same info as I did. Linda ...a descendant of William [see above] has done the genealogy DNA test with FamilyTree DNA Laboratories for the Shelton, Chilton and Skelton DNA database. The result is now available and the test matched desendants from the line of William Shelton who died in 1794 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia. His widow was Hannah (Yates) and his children were Josiah, William, John, Agnes, Susannah, Elijah, George and Elizabeth. Though considerable research has been done on William, to my knowledge, no one has yet found where William lived before moving to Pittsylvania County -- that is, he received in May, 1763, a land grant in Halifax County, VA, in an area that would become Pittsylvania County in 1767. --Jackson Co NC RootsWeb, Hildred Shelton, 19 Jun 2005

    3. I have been requested by a listmate to provide some info regarding James Smith Queen. James had a large family with lots of descendants, but here is the listing of data regarding his son, John Merrit Queen. I've found no documentation yet that reflects James Smith Queen as a son of W.L.Q., Jr. John Merrit Queen (b. 10-20-1848 m. 12-12-1871? d. 8-23-1934 in Haywood Co) m.Margaret M. Smathers, bought 393 acres of land from John Merrit Queen in March 1921, one month after Betty was born. The land includes that upon which Betty lives today (2001). John M. lived in a little house across the road from Betty. The cemetery is a short distance up the road on the right from Betty. Betty was born 2-14-1921 and her dad bought the land the next month. 2. Carol, One of my husbands Couch relatives had this in his family. They were all born in Ark and Tn except one was born in Alabama. We were all stumped as why thinking we missed a marriage somewhere or was this not a child. Five years ago I sent for Cherokee Indian application file on the descendant of one of this mans nephews and low and behold it is stated, My grandmother, the mans sister, went to Alabama in 1857 and came back again in 1858, went to visit relatives there." Evidently she was with child when she went and stayed until after the birth. So you may want to find a relative living there. 3. Carol, It is interesting that you mention that one of James Campbell Queen's sons was born in Arkansas in 1850. John Queen (of NC > Wayne County, TN > Tishomingo County, MS) had a daughter by the name of Elizabeth. She married a James Stanton and is found in MS on the 1850 and 1860 census, but on the 1860 census she has remarried a Mitchell Bearden and has a son by her first husband born in 1855 in Arkansas. Based on the dates of birth of her other children and on her 2nd marriage date. She was in Arkansas after 1853 and returned to Mississippi before August of 1858. I wonder if she was there with your James Queen? 1. James Smith Queen (1819)
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. Does anyone have any proof (documentation) that subject was a son of William Lewis Queen, Jr. (b. ca 1774) and Margaret? If so, please share the reference. I am aware that a descendant of this lineage has concluded that James Smith Queen was a son of William L. Queen, Jr.; however I'd like to see some evidence if it exists. Thanks, Gene
