    1. Tippah/Benton Co Queens
    2. I have another question family? Why did the few queens in Tippah Co., MS seem to migrate to TN. Especially Hardman Co. Also, I only find two Queens in the early census records in Benton Co/Tippah Co., MS-George and Mereday. What other Queen families followed them or are all Queens listed in this county from these two families? (Mainly Mereday [Meredith] as he was the son of George). Thanks for clearing me up on this matter!!! Wendy

    1. James Jamison Queen Reunion--Gene?
    2. Katy McMillen
    3. Nancy, I don't know about the Reunion, I'll ask Gene-- Hey, Gene! Do you have information on this Reunion? I'm just trying to take info from past Queen-L postings and figure out who the older Queen males are [pre-1850] so that we can put families together. I have begun a list of Queen men (and a few women), references to the Queen-L postings about them (and the members that do the postings). It makes a good reference since 99.79% of these men are probably not close relatives of our Texas Queen bunch [NC-TN-ARK-TX]. Not having much luck so far, but at least it gives me info to use to ask questions. Thanks for you info. Katy ----- Original Message ----- From: [email protected] To: [email protected] Sent: Wednesday, August 24, 2005 12:50 PM Subject: Re: Fw: [QUEEN] James Jamison Queen Reunion? Kathy, Jamison was born 5-57-1818 in Rutherford Co. son of James Queen and Sarah Jones. He died June 22, 1901 while living with his son William Grant Queen in Lincolnton, NC. and is buried at the First Methodist Church Cemetery in Lincolnton. His first wife Mary Jefffreys/Jeffries is buried at the Silver Creek Methodist Church in Burke Co. NC and his second wife (my greatgrandmother) Annie Whisenhunt/Griffin is buried in the Salem Methodist Church Cemetery in Burke Co. NC. I have a document where he signed his name Jamason. I have never seen anything with his name listed as James Jamison Queen. I wish I did. As for Annie Whisenhunt, I have documents with her named listed that way, but the immediate family called Annie Griffin and she listed as such on my grandfather death certificate. I wish I could solve that mystery. When is the reunion and where is it? Nancy -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- No virus found in this incoming message. 1. Re: [QUEEN] Queen--Chancey Poor
    2. Normally, I would not move a 12 marker match to our study. But the Poor descendant requested to join our group, and according to Gene, there may be some merit to a Queen/Poor relationship in the past. But he will need to upgrade to 25 or 37 markers to be definitive in a relationship. 3. I show a Dorothy Queen, daughter of Thomas Earl Queen and Bertie F. Stroup, married R. Cecil Gresham on 22 Aug 1925. This sounds like yours. My source is the Tippah Co., MS marriage records as shown on their web page at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mstippah/ I don't know the birth dates for either of them. The children I show are: Albert Vernon Gresham Grace Pauline Gresham John Earl Gresham Lee Timmons Gresham and I don't know the birth dates for any of them. I got the children's name from a Stroupe researcher. Don Erickson, Colorado Springs CO USA [email protected]

    1. James Jamison Queen Reunion?
    2. Katy McMillen
    3. On April 16, 2004 at Queen-L, Carol reported the web address for Hopewell Church, Burke Co. NC showing a land deed for the church dated July 1873, and listing 17 "original members", including--> James Jamison Queen. My comments: 1) Carol noted "there are supposed to be 37 original members" when the church was established. I need to remind her that women in 1873 would not have been suitable signers on such a "corporate" deed. Therefore the "missing 20 members" were probably wives and daughters of the 17 gentlemen who did sign it and therefore, could not sign the deed. Men always did those things. 2) I note that James J. Queen, great grandfather of Skipper of [email protected] [which appeared on Queen-List January 9, 2003] was raised in Golden Valley, and that their "James J. & Nancy June Queen Family Reunion" is held in Burke County NC.** Does this mean that James J., Nancy June's husband in Burke County, is the same James Jamison Queen? If so, then it was James Jamison Queen that "Uncle Clarence" said took a trip back to "a Baptist Church in Golden Valley to help build a building." Skipper said "he had an accident or something and died while doing this and was buried at that church cemetery" [First Broad River Baptist Church, but there is no stone to show which grave.] His ancestry could well be: I. Meredith and Elizabeth Queen [1860 Golden Valley census]: their son II. James, age 12 [James Jamison?]. His son III. James Millard Queen IV. "Uncle Clarence" and Skipper's Father. OK?? 3) To repeat what Skipper said: **"James J. and Nancy June Queen Family Reunion" in late August at Frank Queen's place off Dysartville Road across from Sid's Grocery in Burke County NC. Is anyone going this year? Katy

Cynthia Queen was the daughter of John Queen of North Carolina > McNairy County, Tennessee > Tishomingo County, Mississippi. Cynthia Queen married Wilson Walden 9/26/1848 in Mississippi. Alexander W. (? Wilson) Walden died in Decatur, Wise County, Texas on May 13, 1934. His wife was Alice L. (Kerr) Walden who died May 14, 1940. They are buried in the Oaklawn Cemetery in Wise County. 3. Hi, Jimmy, glad to have you slipping into our Queen Project. I'm the Group Administrator [Rolla Queen keeps the website going] and I need to have your ancestry lst--names and dates. The more information you can give us--where your Chancey Poor was born, what the census says about him--the better we can help you. We do most of our correspondence on Queen-List, so it would help if you would go to Rootsweb and join the List. In the long run we would need to have more DNA evidence to place you in the family. Were you adopted, or your Chancey change his name? We have two groups of Queens that were in Arkansas [were you born there?] --one from Mississippi, the other came from Tennessee to Carroll County AR in 1840, then on to Texas in 1848. Both were from North Carolina. So give us some information for us to go over. Thanks, Katy McMillen [email protected]

    1. Wm. L. Queen, Jr Wife Re-hash?
    2. O Eugene Queen
    3. This may be a re-hash of 1998 research/questions, but I'd still like to give a shot and see what develops. (Copy of Mary Orr's will has also been requested from state archives as well as have the appointment of administrator.) Consideration 1: Swain County Heritage article by Maisie Queen Young contains" "...William Lewis, Jr., b. 1774/75, md. Margaret Orr, who were my second great-grandparents." " The known children of William Lewis Queen, Jr. and his wife Margaret were: Maxwell, b. 1803, md. Celia Rose - Olive md. Ross Carter - Margaret Jean - Rebecca md. Kindred Reaves - and Rachel md. John Wesley Gibbs and lived near Whittier, N. C. - and my great grandfather James Smith Queen. Consideration 2: The Will of Mary Orr, presumed mother of the wife of William L. Queen, Jr. (executor) gives property.... First to a Mary Queen - it appears to be all property... (then) it shall continue in the hand of My Executor for: Maxwell Queen Jean Queen Olivine Queen Mary Queen Margaret Queen We are aware of the probability of other children being born to Wm. L. Queen, Jr. following the 1814 writing of the will of Mary Orr and before Jr.'s probable death in 1822; but who was the wife of Jr. as of the writing of Mary Orr's will? C'mon WLQ, Jr. experts, dig into the old files and memory banks and present the arguments/conclusions. Thanks, Gene

    3. Hi gang - The following web site refers to a William H. Queen, executor, probate, filed 1916, in Elk County, Kansas. http://skyways.lib.ks.us/genweb/archives/elk/probate/1900-1920/p.html Anyone looking for a William H. in Elk County, Kansas during that time frame. (No Queens in Elk County in 1910 or 1920.) I have one William H. that would have been alive during that time in Kansas. Before I attempt to find out if this is my "William" thought I would toss it out to the list. Thanks. Glenda
