    1. Roberts/Queen in Ga
    2. This note was sent to me by a friend that researches another name(Roberts) and is a couple of yrs old. My g-grandfather is Robert G. (Bob) Roberts, born about l842 in Georgia. He had at least two sisters, Mollie or Martha, and Mary, and two brothers, Will and Luther. I think his father was a Jim or James Roberts married to a Queen. A daughter, Martha Queen married Lewis John Avery in l868 in Calhoun Co. Ala. Robert Roberts married Sarah Aressa Laster in Miss around l860, and they came to Ark. He served in the Civil War in the 6th Monroe's Ark Calvary in l862. I believe he was hurt logging in Ark and don't know where he is buried. His wife and a daughter named Queen Victoria came to Texas, Red River and Lamar Counties, and are buried there. [email protected]

    1. Indian Queens at Cherokee
    2. Drew Welch
    3. Old William Queen's line- Just lookin' through some old notes I had from L.G. Queen reminiscences on his Queen family. He was born and raised with the Queens in Caney Fork, Jackson County, NC. and is from Old William Queen's line through his son Samuel (of the Revolution). He is listing Samuel's children and says that there are probably more, because "no mention is made of the one who married an Indian women and settled in Swain County, the ancestor of those Indians named Queen at Cherokee." Does anyone in the group have information on the Indian Queens? Thanks, Drew

    2. Carol Queen
    3. Hey All, I just actually checked out those records and they are fantastic for the Gnatty Creek gang. There are names of parents, spouses, place of birth, death and cause of death. The record the search pulls up only gives a part of the info. But, if you click on the link to the actual document there is alot more info on it. Carol

    1. West Virginia Online state records
    2. Carol Queen
    3. Folks, Here is an article from this month's Rootsweb Review "1. NEWS, NOTES, AND SITES WORTH SEEING 1a. EDITOR'S DESK: FINDING WEST VIRGINIA VITALS ONLINE Searching for those elusive West Virginia ancestors may now be just a mouse click away. You can now search and view scanned images of original birth, death, and marriage records from six counties, as well as most statewide death certificates from 1917-54 at http://www.wvculture.org/vrr/ The free database consists of millions of West Virginia births, deaths, and marriages--a goldmine for genealogists and historians. FamilySearch Archive has scanned and indexed these records and the West Virginia Division of Culture and History is hosting them online. The database has more than 3.5 million names linked to 1.4 million original images of birth, marriage, and death records from Calhoun, Gilmer, Hardy, Harrison, Mineral, and Pendleton counties. The record dates vary by county and type of record, but typically range from 1816 to 1929. Birth records are for the period 1853-1930, county death records for 1853-1969/1970, and county marriage records from the creation of the county until the late 1960s -- all of which are searchable by name, county, and date. FamilySearch (http://www.familysearch.org/) -- a nonprofit entity -- filmed, scanned, and created the automatic index at the heart of the online database. The project required 2,500 volunteers and 64,000 hours to complete. West Virginia plans to add records from additional counties in the future.

    3. Harve J. (actually it was James Harve) was my grandfather, and his brother was Riley listed below. Do not know if there is a relationship to George and Will. Will's nearest relative is G.W.Queen. Perhaps that is George Washington Queen; I've tried to find a connection to that family for many years. Elderly cousins believed we were related, but no one could say for sure.
