Hi, I am looking for burial records for Joseph Audet dit Lapointe b. 1783 and his wife Marguerite Chapdelaine dit Beaulac dit Lariviere b. 1792. They were married 1807 in La Présentation-de-la-Sainte-Vierge parish. They are on the 1861 census in Ste. Rosalie with eldest son Joseph and his family. I can find neither they, nor son Joseph and family on any subsequent census. Son Joseph and his wife Mathilde Casavant were buried in 1890 in Saint-Athanase-de-Bleury, Iberville. Son Joseph and wife are listed as being of the parish of Saint-Guillaume-d'Upton on the marriage register for their daughter in 1864. Neither Joseph Sr., nor Marguerite are mentioned in that entry. I've checked the parish indexes for St. Guillame, the St. Hyacinthe area (Notre Dame du Rosaire, Le Confesseur, La Presentation, St. Rosalie, St. Damase, St. Pie, St. Dominique) and the parishes for Iberville area (Saint-Athanase-de-Bleury, St. Jean sur Richelieu, St. Luc, L-Acadie) as well as Henryville that I was advised was a place people from that area might end up. I did find a burial record in Notre Dame du Rosaire in 1871 for a Marguerite Chapelaine dit Lariviere, aged 79 (which would fit). However, she is listed as the widow of Jean Chenet and I have been unable to find a burial record for Jean, nor a marriage record for the two of them. Since she was on the 1861 census with husband Joseph, any marriage to Jean, and his death, would have had to occur between the 1861 census and the 1871 burial. I do realize that entries can sometimes escape inclusion in the indexes - and the possibility exists that I missed the entry in the index. But before I go to the task of trawling the registers page by page I thought I would ask if anyone has any ideas of where else I might look: for the burial of Joseph or Marguerite, or for a marriage for she and Jean and burial for Jean. Thank you,Frances
I may have found Joseph's death. At the Cathedral in St. Hycinthe on the 31st of January 1875 they buried in the cemetery of this parish the body of Joseph Audit dit Lapointe widower of Marguerite Beaulac he died on the 29th of the current month at the age (can't make out only 80+) Also in same parish on the 8th of September 1874 buried in this parish the body of Marguerite Beaulac wife of Joseph Audet dit Lapointe renter of this parish (I believe it says died yesterday) I can't quite make the age it is 80+ Regards, Phil > On July 6, 2018 at 12:46 AM franalm via Quebec-Research <[email protected]> wrote: > > > Hi, > I am looking for burial records for Joseph Audet dit Lapointe b. 1783 and his wife Marguerite Chapdelaine dit Beaulac dit Lariviere b. 1792.
