9/23/2014 Madeleine (Brochu) Larose - Obituary Madeleine (Brochu) Larose, of West Burke, passed away at NVRH early Sunday morning, Sept. 21, 2014, with her family at her bedside. She was born in Ste. Agapit, Quebec, on May 27, 1929, the last survivor of 11 children born to Elysee and Regina (Murphy) Brochu. She was predeceased by her husband Oscar six years ago on Aug. 13, 2008. Madeleine worked hard with her husband on the Pelletier potato farm in Sutton. She was a parishioner at St. Elizabeth Church. People may remember her tending to her huge vegetable garden and having a great sense of humor. She is survived by three children: Marie Godfrey and husband Gary of West Burke, James Larose and Gail Badger of Port Richey, Fla., Sylvia Petrie and Michael Lanoue of Newark; six grandchildren: Nicole Morton, Danielle Speer, and Michael Speer, Nathan Larose, Allen and Oliver Fisher; 11 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be held at the Guibord Funeral Home this Wednesday evening, Sept. 24, from 6-8 p.m. Her funeral mass will be celebrated in Lyndonville this Thursday, Sept. 25, at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church. Following the Mass she will be buried beside her husband at St. Elizabeth Cemetery. Memorial contributions could be directed to the Burke Senior Meal Site, P.O. Box 100, West Burke, VT 05871.
