VINTON — Police are investigating around two dozen damaged gravestones and statues reported over the weekend. Tim Fuchs is the caretaker of Evergreen Cemetery. He says someone told him about the vandalism early Sunday morning. “One of our local walkers came through the cemetery and noticed the stones being down. He came right down to the house and let me know. We came up here and I started counting and we had over 22 stones that were knocked over,” Fuchs said. This is the fourth time Evergreen Cemetery has been vandalized in the past 30 years. The damage comes around a week after _more than 70 sites were vandalized_ (http://www.kcrg.com/subject/news/public-safety/crime/vandals-tip-over-74-tom bstones-in-oelwein-cemetery-20140911) at Oakdale Cemetery in Oelwein. Of those, 38 were cracked or broken, including ones belonging to the Oelwein family who founded the city.
