My husband's maternal great great grandfather Alphonso Hall was supposedly still married to Elizabeth Gavin when he came to Glover, VT and then married Rosette Sherburnne, daughter of the owner of the Glover Union House.  Her father drove stagecoach from Boston to Sherbrooke then Montreal so made sure his hotel got guests regularly. There are several names in this lineage given to me by Eric Fiske but we were wondering did he ever divorce and how to find. Harriet E. Cady Generation One   1.  Alphonse or Alphonso "Henry"1 Hall, b. 21 Jul 1833 in Ascot, Sherbrook Co., QC,[1] (son of Zaccheus Halland Samantha Moulton), d. 23 Jun 1916 in Glover, Orleans Co., VT,[2],[3] buried in Westlook Cem., Glover, VT.[4]  In 1851, Alphonso was 21, living in Sherbrooke, QC with his parents.           In 1861, Alphonso Henry Hall, farmer of Dudswell, Sherbrooke Co., QC was baptized in Dudwell, on the same day as his son George Milford Hall.  Alphonso's wife was Elizabeth,  Elizabeth's maiden name is given as Gavin.    His date of birth is given as 21 Jul 1831.  Minnie Almira Hall's baptism is also recorded in the Drouin collection. She was born on 11 Oct 1868 and baptized 13 Mar 1870 in Dudswell.            In 1861, Alphonso and Elizabeth were living in Wolfe Co., Quebec.  The household consisted of Alphonzo, age 30; Elizabeth Hall, age 34; Olivia Ridgway, age 11; Aletia Ridgway, age 10; Emily Ridgway, age 8; Gilis (?) Hall in this period before he appears in Vermont in 1880, when he (A. Henry Hall) and Rosette were living with Rosette's parents in Glover, VT.  They had three children at that time. So, there is a bit of mystery here. Was he divorced from Elizabeth?  Did he simply leave the marriage and Quebec, and make a fresh start in Vermont without the benefit of divorce before marrying again?  His daughter Lelia also came to Vermont, first marrying in Newport in 1882.           At the time of the 1900 census,  Henry A. and Rosette continued to live in Glover. Henry was now head of the household and hotelkeeper. They had been married for 27 years, putting their marriage about 1873.  The census indicates that Henry had come to the US in 1873. In 1920, Mamie was living with her daughter and son-in-law Mamie and Samuel Bean, in Glover.           Henry's death record gives his name as Henry Alphonso Hall. His parents were unknown at that time.           Henry and Rosette (Sherburne) Hall ran the Union House, a hotel in Glover, VT, for many years.  They lived at the Union House for all of their married lives (Glover Bicentenniel Committe, 1983, page 24). He married (1) Elizabeth Gavin, b. abt 1829 in QC, d. 13 Feb 1887 in Dudswell, Wolfe Co., QC, buried in Lothrop Cem., Dudswell, QC.  He married (2) M. Rosette Sherburne, abt 1873 in Glover, Orleans Co., VT?, b. 23 Dec 1838 in Glover, Orleans Co., VT,[5] (daughter of John Sherburneand Mariah Flint), d. 24 Apr 1923 in Glover, Orleans Co., VT,[6] buried in Westlook Cem., Glover, VT,[7] buried in VVRD.                              Children by Elizabeth Gavin:             2        i.     Gillis or Giles2 Hall, b. 12 Nov 1856 in Dudswell, Wolfe Co., QC?,[8] d. 1940, buried in Lothrop Cem., Dudswell, QC.  He married Emma Kenney, 4 Jan 1888 in Waterville, Sherbrooke Co., QC (daughter of William Kenneyand Martha Ward).             3        ii.    George Milford Hall, b. 1 Aug 1860 in Dudswell, Wolfe Co., QC,[9] d. 1944, buried in Lakeside Cem., Bishopton, Wolfe Co., QC.  He married Anna Lassell.             4        iii.   Lelia Adelaide Hall, b. 8 Feb 1863 in Dudswell, Wolfe Co., QC,[10] d. 8 Apr 1939 in Newport, Orleans Co., VT.[11]  Lelia's name on her death record is given as Lelia Adelaide Stark Clark.  Her parents are given as Henry Hall and Elizabeth Gavin. She married (1) Robert W. Stark, 11 Jun 1882 in Newport, Orleans Co., VT.[12]  They were divorced on bet 1910-1911.  She married (2) Hugh Melvin Clark, 11 Nov 1911 in Newport, Orleans Co., VT.[13]             5        iv.   Minnie Almira Hall, b. 11 Oct 1868 in Dudswell, Wolfe Co., QC, d. 28 Jan 1912 in Cookshire, Compton Co., QC?,[14] buried in Cookshire Cem., Cookshire, QC.[15]  She married John E.
