    3. I'm posting this again after we (Hugable Renee) resubbed about 90 folks so they can see it.. (Unc) Today 50 or so people bounced off the Quebec-Research list, they can just resub. But the problem is as I pointed out the other day. Several ISP's have changed their mailing list rules (Notably AOL and Yahoo). This causes their list members to not receive some list mail. All list mail IS in the archives. Rootsweb/Ancestry is aware of this, and can rewrite their code to fix the problem. When (or even if) is unknown. I've changed the bounce limit to a silly number but that only delays the bounceoff, and it doesn't get you all the list mail. Verizon has not yet lost their mind and joined the other ISP's, so I still get to see everything.. Bottom line, this is a problem YOUR ISP caused, holler at them. And then wait till Rootsweb rewrites mailman to change the way sender addresses are used in the list emails (Which is the fix)... Regards, Fred dit Uncle

    3. A bit more on the problem: Rootsweb (and many other email lists) sends the mail from their email servers with the original senders from name. You get the mail that says it is coming from (as an example) me. When in fact it's being sent from Rootsweb. Many ISP's have adopted a standard that does not allow that. They are blocking mail that "pretends" to come from someone else. Not a bad idea at all. The problem is they just did it without any real warning, and caused chaos in the email world, including Rootsweb's thousands of lists. Since QR is a fairly active list, we see the effects first. All lists are affected, and my changing the bounce limit does not in any real way solve the problem. The Rootsweb folks need to change the from address to a Rootsweb server name (Say the list name). Rootsweb uses a modified copy of the free email software called Mailman, that is where the change must be made.. The following is from AOL: "Mailing lists, also known as listservs are affected by this change: We recommend (Rootsweb) configuring reply behavior to fill the From line with the mailing list's address rather than the sender's and put the actual user / sender address into the Reply-To: line. Please also note that current "auto unsubscribe" logic based upon bounces might be too rigid until this change has been in place for a while."
