I am looking for birth of Joseph Valiquette and his marriage date to Julia Larabie. And birth date of son Joseph. Joseph Valiquette with possible middle names of A., Henry or Z (Zotique?). His gravestone has Joseph Z. Valiquette with year of birth as 1875. According to the 1900 census he was born Oct 1865 in Canada. His death record indicates born in 1872. I think that the Oct 1865 date is the most accurate date of birth. He married Julia Larabie about 1893 based on birth of son Oscar and 1900 census. Julia was born 20 Oct 1867 in Pointe-Gatineau and baptized 6 Feb 1868, daughter of Michel Larabie and Julie Lafontaine or Johnson or Parent or Simpson. Michel Larabie lived in Templeton from 1865 until his death in 1895. Julia does not appear in the 1891 census with her father but a 8 year old Joseph appears living with Michel. Joseph and Julia had Oscar Howard, born 15 July 1894 in Ottawa. There is a son Joseph Henry Valiquette, born 31 Mar 1880 in Canada that I suspect is Julia's son but not Joseph's son. I have not found that birth. If born out of wedlock may be difficult to find and the records for St-Francois-de-Sales are hard to read in places. Joseph and Julia immigrated about 1894 to Massachusetts and Joseph died 17 Apr 1930 in Pawtucket, RI. His parents are listed as Joseph and Caroline on his death record. Thank you for any help you can provide. Charlene
Making a little progress here. You mentioned as "Parent" as possible parents for Julie. I think this would be them. Renee, Julie Larabie was the daughter of Michel Larabie and Julie Lafontaine. Julie Lafontaine was the one who might be aka Parent. So this marriage of Michel and Lafontaine would be too late as I believe Julie Lafontaine was born about 1830 and married abt 1844. But it is interesting in that a book about the families of Ste-Rose-de-Lima indicated that Michel Larabie was from Ste-Cecile. I thought Ste-Cecile de Masham in Gatineau-Hull but... So maybe there is something here. Thank you, Charlene On May 19, 2014, at 10:45 AM, Renee Cummings <rcummi1123@rogers.com> wrote: > Making a little progress here.
